On many occasions, we have dined at the Family Pancake House for breakfast, once in a while for lunch. On most occasions, the food is good and reasonably reliable. Every now and again, there has been a slight issue, such as over or under cooked eggs; however, the servers have taken care of any problems that had arisen. On our last visit, I decided to change what I usually order; this time, I had a cinnamon roll. Once a year, I get a weird craving for cinnamon rolls, I treat myself with one, and then all is fine. Last year was the first time of trying their cinnamon rolls. I discovered how moist and tasty they were with the correct balance of sweet and cinnamon, last year I was in heaven eating that large warm cinnamon roll, this year not so much. This year, although looking pretty, it wasn't warmed and seemed dry, so my expectations were demolished, even butter didn't save it, and our server didn't offer to warm it. My husband had the Chorizo omelet with no cheese; he chose fruit over hash browns and toast. He stated that the chorizo wasn't very spicy, and he ended up adding a bunch of hot sauce to compensate. Plus the salsa was lackluster; he felt the tomatoes in the salsa were bitter and not sweet like prior times of having this meal. The restaurant as a whole seemed clean and was busy as it is typically — no large messes on the floor and no unkempt tables. The staff was friendly, even if our server didn't offer to warm my cinnamon roll, I never ended up asking her too, but I felt it necessary to tell her at least how dry it was; none-the-less she was friendly enough. However, their menu is overwhelming, and one has to wonder, do they need to provide 60+ items to choose from? And do people order all of those items often? I feel that large of a menu is overkill; I know they want to offer several choices. I've said in past reviews with all of those choices, something has to give, and it usually is the quality of the food. The bathroom appeared reasonably decent, although two of the stalls were out of stool liners. The parking lot is clean and offers quite a bit of parking spaces that are shared with a few other small businesses. Will we eat there again? Most likely yes, many times we have dined there with no single issue, and the...
Read moreI have been coming to this establishment since my daughter was 2(she’s 25 now). Always have great things to say about wait staff food and overall service. Today may 28th around 11am my husband and I came in and was greeted by a gal -front staff she was going to seat us on the left however clearly seeing about 3 tables were available on the right (cleared of plates just waiting for the silverware setting) my husband asked Politely to sit on the right. She didn’t say anything then slammed down her water pitcher on the side table in the front entry which spilled then threw her two menus in her hand down on the table as well. She then walked to the right side saying we will have to wait then. I spoke back at her and asked her why she had an attitude! She ignored me. Meanwhile the nicer front staff gal simply picked up the water pitcher and menu and seated us respectively. I would not make a big deal about this as everyone has a bad day HOWEVER this happened last time we came for breakfast, about 5 weeks ago. I was in shock but didn’t say anything then. Happening Again today warranted this review. I want the owners to talk to her and reprimand her! These 2 gals were the first people you interact with and are the face of the restaurant and one was great but the other (older one) was far from it! She needs to have a task where she does Not interact with...
Read moreMy husband and i had dinner a couple of times at their branch in Wheaton Way, and were disappointed. So we tried the one on Kitsap Way, and we didn't make a mistake this time. As soon as we walked in, i felt a sense of home and family. The lighting was not harsh and in fact, was so cozy. I particularly loved their bulletin board which had lots of sweet notes from satisfied customers. I was so tempted to write on it, but couldn't find a sharpie around. The staff were amazing. They were very sincere, it didn't seem as if they were just "doing the job." They were very attentive without being intrusive. I liked how they spoke in low, gentle tone, not loud and rankling. We ordered the flatiron steak, and it was very juicy and fresh. The fries were served in a large heap, and we could definitely tell they weren't store bought, but "homemade." All around us were customers who seem to be regular ones, and based on our experience, it wasn't a surprise. We hate it when the staff would take their sweet time picking up our check, and in this branch, that didn't happen at all. The atmosphere was filled with gaiety. I appreciated that very much. I'd definitely come back for more of the experience my...
