I ordered a Pink champagne cake for my God daughters 21st birthday. I was very clear that the reason I was, getting Pink champagne is because its PINK INSIDE. I mentioned this while,I was ordering. The lady already seemed irritated with the people before me and continued to be short and snappy. Not full on rude but definitely off putting and short. I show up about 20 minutes earlier then I said I'd be there to pick up the cake and it wasn't done yet. So the other lady wrote really fast on it. Again, I commented how cool pink champagne cakes are because they're pink inside. She shows me the cake and although I wasn't thrilled with the writing, I took the cake because there wasn't time to have somebody else make a Pink cake. The cake was not pink inside. She told,me there was special flavoring in the cake. There wasn't. It was plain, dry white cake with white frosting inside. So I called her today and she says oh the other lady must have made you a white cake, did yo7 ask for it to be untinted? I said,No! Don't,you remember our whole conversation about the Pink cake inside?? She says, oh our PINK champagne cake is white. I said then what makes it pink champagne cake if its white with no special flavoring? She said, well that's why it has the pink frosting. Every othet bakery that I uave ever been to that has pink champagne cake not only makes it,pink inside but there is a,special taste to it. I will never get to celebrate this birthday with my God daughter again. The lady is refunding my money but it seems a,small consultation. She was so excited to see the Pink cake amd taste it. Thanks a lot mcgavins and your crabby worker. Amd please don't get on here and say how sorry you are. It means, nothing. At all. It will just further insult me,at this, point.,instead why don't,you learn what A PINK CHAMPAGNE CAKE IS. I Saw another review where someone was upset about the same thing and all,you did was apologize and say oh our pink cakr is actually always white. EITHER ADD SOME FREAKING PINK FOOD COLORING OR CHANGE THE,NAME OF THE CAKE TO WHITE...
Read moreI could pitch a tent and live in this place! (Well, if they'd let me...) When I was a child, my mother used to bring me to this bakery, whenever we were in Bremerton, to let me pick one special treat. I fondly remember the man that would so kindly help me with a cookie or chocolate. It was always so difficult for me to choose just one thing! No matter what I settled on it was always yummy, with a handmade touch. I hadn't even realized that they were still there, until my 84 year old mother asked for a pink champagne cake, from McGavin's, for her birthday this year. I had never heard of such a cake, but she remembered her mother would get them from there when she was a child. After researching champagne cakes online, and coming to find out that McGavin's truly IS famous for theirs (and after picking myself up off the floor at the shock of what other places charge for them...) I placed an order over the phone with a very kind and helpful young lady. I only gave them a couple of days notice, yet I picked up a beautifully decorated, with a personalized message, pink champagne cake that was the BEST cake I have EVER tasted (and my mother was completely delighted with, as well...) in the smallest, 7" size, for only $30 (half the price that others charge...). I could not more highly recommend this bakery for any baked, or sweet, desire you may have: cookies, chocolates, cakes, rolls, cake pops, and on, and on...they seem to have it all. And, with a kind smile,...
Read moreLet me start by stating I’ve ordered from this bakery before and my family was very pleased with our order. Was looking forward to enjoying more treats when I visit the area again. I called today for assistance in ordering a gender reveal cake for my daughter as I live in another state. The young lady who answered my call was not very friendly or helpful at all. She did not offer any assistance in what she could do for me, yet told me what she could not do or would not do. She wad very dry in her tone and appeared irritated. I just thanked her and hung up. I told my daughter that I was told by the young lady that they do gender reveal cakes, but wasn’t given any details or suggestions of what they could do by the young lady just what they couldn’t or wouldn’t do and I was puzzled. My daughter loves their cakes and said she would call and find out. She said they probably will just use colored icing between the layers of cake. My daughter called and received the same dry rude young lady over the phone that I spoke with and in fact the young lady hung up on her. Needless to say I will no longer patronize this bakery. Customer service is everything. Tip, if a customer is not asking the right questions, it’s your customer service duty to provide the correct answers and lead and guide them to a possible solution to their problem, let them know what you are able to do, not what...
