I usually wait until I go to an establishment at least twice before I review, but I've only been here once. Our experience was so great, I couldn't wait to review them so here we go! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now after seeing all of the great reviews here on Yelp. I've never actually had Korean food before, so I was excited to try something new. I have a bit of an MSG allergy which rules out most Chinese and Pho places around here. Not knowing if Korean food uses MSG traditionally, I called ahead just in case to ask. They let me know that they don't add MSG, but that some of the ingredients they use contain MSG and that they could leave those out or substitute something else. Once we arrived, I let the hostess know I was the one who called. I went with the Bibimbap since it seemed to be the most prominent Korean dish to try first. The hostess let me know that the sauce they use has MSG and she'd let the cook know to just leave it out. I thought that was very nice. When she brought our food, she let me know they used a different sauce but was still very authentic, so I still felt like I was getting the true experience. It was so delicious! I've never had anything like it and it was so flavorful and interesting. I could taste the love that went into it and it turns out the cook is the hostesses mother, whom I'm guessing may also be the owners. It really felt like eating at a friends house whose mother was cooking for me and my family and had no problems changing up the dish because of my MSG issue. My lady ordered the fried rice which she loved and our son played it safe with Teryaki which isn't Korean but I was too into my dish to worry about what he was up to. All of the side dishes that they serve were really good and compliment the meal very well. I wish I could remember the name of the side dishes. They even offered to bring more of them after we finished them all off, but we were way too full to keep eating. The prices are very reasonable, and the restaurant is fairly nice if not a little divey and run down. I really appreciated how friendly everyone was, from the hostess to the cook. I can't wait to go back and maybe try some other things, especially since I only have MSG issues if it's just added to the dish as opposed to just being inside one of the ingredients, so hopefully I can try the Bibimbap as it's intended. My favorite thing is how the rice gets all crispy on the bottom with the stone bowl. If you haven't tried Korean, or looking for great Korean food, come to this place! In all fairness, I'll have to try some other Korean places to see how they stack up, but I have a feeling no one is...
Read moreI'm from out of town working in the Kitsap area for about 3 weeks and was craving Authentic Korean food. I decided to go to Suzy's Kitchen since it was within 2 miles from the apartment I was staying at.
The restaurant is located in a small shopping strip that shares about 15 parking with 3 other businesses. Being that it was around 6:30 pm and it was dinner rush hour I was still able to find parking.
The restaurant was full with families and the food on their tables looked good and portion sizes were enough to share for two people.
Before being seated the gal at the front warned me they were busy and running about 30 minutes late but I decided to stay.
The menu is varied, they also have some American dishes. I ordered the chicken bulgogi and it came served on a hot plate with a side of rice and banchan. I couldn't finish my chicken so I got a to go box in a little service station they have set up. They also have complimentary self serve brown rice tea.
The place is out dated but clean, comfortable and cozy family business.
Food was delicious and next time I might call ahead and do a pick up instead of eating in especially during the dinner rush.
I would recommend Suzy's for their great...
Read moreSusie’s Kitchen is a local favorite for very good reasons. The friendly service and energy of this place is like you are literally eating at Susie’s house. I’ve always been met with a smile and heartfelt welcome. There are no frills in the restaurant but it’s always clean and orderly. And frills aren’t needed when the food is as good as it is. The bibimbap is my favorite! The small side dishes provided are refreshing and delicious. As you can tell in the picture provided as I forgot to take the pic before we almost finished them. We also had the spicy ramen and lumpia. Both were great!!! Complimentary hot tea is provided, which I highly recommend. Parking can be tough as the lot isn’t big enough for the four businesses that share it. The busiest days are Friday and Saturday so maybe try a...
