Out of all the food I ate during my trip to Nashville, the Puffy Muffin was probably the best, and worth every interminable second waiting for it.
The problem with the Muffin is that it's a tease. So popular, with such delectable morsels, that it's a heavily-frequented spot. Meaning, in layman's terms, there's almost always a wait. Normally, I wouldn't mind. But you sit there, staring at the bakery cases, stuffed to the brim with insanely well-crafted delights, and you can hardly think of anything else!
Finally, after what seemed hours of drooling over pastries, we were shown to our table. I was practically gnawing off my own hand reading the menu, and by the time the first bite of breakfast sandwich - fresh baked croissant, smooth, bouncy eggs, slightly sweet and spicy sausage - hit my tongue, I thought I had died. But lo! Dessert was yet to be had.
For our table, we ordered the petit four, a cinnamon roll, and a lemon bar. Of them all, the petit four was the least delightful and even that made the Oreo Blizzard seem like salt and ashes. The first bite of the lemon bar sent tingles through my body, electrifying every nerve. And the cinnamon roll! Oh, how I crave it, even now. Soft, warm, chewy, just sweet enough to be dangerous. So good I ordered another to go, to pick at slowly, savoring every gooey bite over breakfast the next morning.
Hold onto the Puffy Muffin, if you can, and...
Read moreI was in great company for lunch after an outing in Franklin and we stopped here around 1 pm. It was busy but we didn't have to wait too long. I got a chicken salad on wheat bread with potato casserole for a side and fruit tea. The tea was tasty, the casserole was yummy like a hash brown/mashed potato mix but the sandwich was unremarkable. I guess I expected something more than what I could whip up at home. Especially with it being a bakery. The bread did not have a fresh homemade taste as I expected. My friend was disappointed that they had removed her favorite item (fried green tomato) from the menu and then ordered something else only to have the waitress return to tell her they were out of croissants. Hmmm, I thought we were in a bakery... If it has been later in the day I might have expected this but only being an hour after mid-day it was surprising. I felt bad for the waitress having to deliver this news to so many patrons as I overheard her telling others of other items they were out of. She made the best of it and was very cheery. Overall it wasn't the greatest meal and I probably won't be on a hurry to go back but it wasn't...
Read moreThis was the worst service I have ever received. It was my first time attempting to eat at the newest Puffy Muffin restaurant in Franklin. It was me and my 2 daughters. I entered on the bakery side and ordered from the menu. When we received our food in to go containers I stated we wanted to eat there. The waitress said we would have to eat "over there" and walked off! We went "over there" to the restaurant side and they refused to seat us!!! The hostess and waitress stated we needed to see a manager. We waited with our food getting cold to see the manager, still not seated. The manager said they typically do not seat bakery orders in the restaurant. Still not seated!!! This is a confusing setup and undertones of not wanting to seat "certain people " in their restaurant. I got my money back and left and ate at J. Christopher's where the service and food were excellent. I also asked if they had WiFi and was told "no", which is unheard of for a business. I will not be back to Puffy Muffin Franklin and will tell my social and professional organization and workplace not to...
