I'm southern, but was in Buzzards Bay. Took the drive over for our biennial pilgrimage to the Gorey house. The other location is closer, but this one said pourover. Pretty spot. People were nice. The person at the counter seemed happy that I wanted pourover, knew what I was asking for, and didn't ask for anything adulterated, like dairy. There's a flavor I'm still learning to describe with lighter coffees. Over extracted? Idk. I kind of think it's an off flavor, but then there wouldn't have been all that other nuance in the cup. I guess I need a tasting class. Anyway, I brought home a bag of the Salkantay Reserve. Y'all roasted that? Nice work! I just wish it would have lasted longer.
We aren't up often, but as long as you have pourover you will see us on every trip for a cup made on site and at least one bag to feed to my virtuoso+. As well as me telling locals about you on those trips. Hopefully by then we will be in a mask less world and I'll feel more comfortable having coffee conversations. I could use the input. It's nice that you're masked at appropriate times, but being southern I feel less comfortable if I'm not in matching attire...
I also would have preferred my coffee in glass or ceramic. I should have said something. Putting coffee in paper makes it taste like paper. Hmm... Have y'all tried rinsing the cup in hot water to remove some of the paper flavor? I'm not sure if that works, but maybe...
Read moreBeen here for a couple weeks visiting family and kept seeing signs for this place around town, so I thought I would give them a try. I ordered 2 cold brews with vanilla, 2 bagels and a breakfast empanada. I paid right around $30 and was expecting some pretty good stuff from the price I paid. Not only did I have to repeat my order about 3 times, I was looked at like I had a second head when I said I would in fact like my empanada cooked and my bagels toasted.
Considering I was only going 6 minutes down the road, I didn’t think the food would get cold so fast, I would be incorrect in that assumption. After adding sugar to my coffee I noticed that the vanilla that I requested AND paid extra for, was not put in my coffee. In addition to that, the bottoms of the bagels were considerably soggy due to the condensation coming from the cold cream cheese cups put directly beside previously hot bagels.
The coffee was garbage, the bagels are nasty and the eggs in the empanada were subpar to say the least. Definitely wish I spent my money on some actual breakfast and good coffee...
Read moreUpdate of the review below: I am pleased to say that when we visited The Snowy Owl in Brewster on Sunday12/12/2021, ALL staff members were masked. Patrons were another story however, but that’s a problem everywhere on the Cape, in spite of elevated Covid cases. Thank you Snowy Owl for hearing those of us with concerns. ———————————- One of our favorite places on the Cape, but not a single staff member was wearing a mask on Sunday, 9/19/2021, and this inspired many patrons to take off their masks. Both my wife and I are in high-risk groups, and when we saw this, we walked out. We have been faithful customers for quite a long time, but if this persists, we will not be going back to the Snowy Owl, and we will stop recommending them to our many guests due to safety concerns. This pandemic is far from over, and the variants coming along are extremely infective. We went to Eat Cake for Breakfast instead, I highly recommend it. Plus, they actually care about the health and safety of...
