I've been going to Timothy's since it opened in the early 80s as a little kid. I've not had consistently better ice cream in my life and I love ice cream. This place is an amazing gem with dozens of "best of" ice cream awards on the wall. I've finally been able to start sharing it with my son and I hope the store lives on for his children. The owner couldn't be nicer, he greets my family every time we go in, including this past weekend. The prices are reasonable and it's an adorable throw back in time to an era of handmade, old fashion ice cream. The "mix-ins" are truly the best way to eat ice cream! You can't go wrong with anything, but my favor flavors are Oreo (literally the best I've ever had), caramel crunch, sweet cream, and Black Rock. If you're ever driving down I-95 in CT, get off at exit 24 in Fairfield and follow the GPS to Timothy's Ice Cream in Black Rock, about 3 minutes away. You won't regret it. This place is certainly in the same conversation as Sally's Apizza and Louis' Lunch in New Haven for CT gems. You can even do the 1-2 punch and hit Super Duper Weenie on the same 3 minute drive from the highway. Guy Fieri totally missed the boat when he hit Super Duper Weenie and not Timothy's, rookie mistake. Timothy's is not one to miss!!! Skip the Fairfield Pepe's Pizza, it's fallen very far from the tree of the New Haven classic. There's a Sally's opening in the same...

Timothy's doesn't look like much from the outside or the inside for that matter, but like my mama said, "Never judge a book by its cover." Timothy's not only makes some of the best homemade ice cream I've ever had, but they also make homemade whipped cream. Yes, you read that correctly-homemade whipped cream. I had the Oreo ice cream and it was amazing. Also tried the toasted almond and it was out of this world. Everything tasted so fresh and it's no surprise this place has been around...
