I am leaving this review to try to get a hold of the owner of this establishment. The service that we received at this restaurant is absolutely horrible. The managers at this location need too be better trained and learn how too handle situations like this. The way the managers treated myself and my husband isn’t right. And at this point it’s the principal too me. I came into the restaurant 9/27/2025, we ordered our food and ate. The food itself was cold and sitting on the counter nobody ever called our names when our food was ready. so I then walked up too the front and asked if this was my order and if my food was ready. He replied yes’ I took my food and we ate. I did not make an issue of the food being cold and sitting on the counter i said whatever it’s fine. Before we left I decided I was going too order a milkshake. I paid for my order at the kiosk and waited for my drink, my daughter was outside playing on the playground on the property so once my shake was done I went outside too my daughter, after being outside maybe 5-8 mins while drinking the shake I tasted something hard I spit out whatever was in my mouth too my surprise it was a small clear piece of plastic. I immediately walked back into the restaurant told one of the “so called manager” and showed him the piece of plastic I found in my milkshake, I asked him can I please have this remade I found this in my shake” he looked at the piece of plastic flicked it off his hand and told me he would remake a new one, never once apologized either, what would’ve happened if a child or my daughter drink that milkshake and swallowed a piece of plastic? So then they remade the milkshake and once again I go outside too my child and within 5 mines I can immediately taste something is wrong with the milkshake, it tasted like metal I don’t know if it’s because it was overturned in the machine if they blended it too long I don’t know where the problem happened. But as a paying customer if I bring an item back and explain that this does not taste correct it tastes like metal or chemical of some kind you should address it. The milkshake was full I even asked my husband to taste the milkshake to see if I’m just crazy or if there is something wrong with it he tasted it and agreed something is wrong. I then ask my husband to go back in with the receipt and simply ask for a refund I do not like confrontation, and I can tell that the first time that I walked up to the counter and asked for the shake to be remade, they seemed agitated and almost upset, The two managers working that night, one by the name of Nick denied my refund for a $7.71 milkshake. At this point, it’s not just the $7 refund it’s a point. They’re trying to gaslight me and in so many words call me a liar because they don’t feel that there was anything wrong with the milkshake after I and my husband had repeatedly told them it tastes like chemical. I have absolutely zero reasons to lie and to make this up about a seven dollar milkshake. Their reply was we’re not giving a refund because she drank half of it” at that point which is absolutely untrue how does one drink a whole milkshake in 5 mins?. It started to get a little heated and they started to become confrontation between my husband and the three employees (2 managers and 1 employee) my husband explained that there’s no reason for us to lie over a seven dollar milkshake but the employees were going to for tat. That’s not how you treat a paying customer in the restaurant Business to go head on and basically argue with a customer that is voicing and explaining that there’s something wrong with the product. I’m hoping that this gets the attention of the owner because there is more details that I would...
Read moreAfter avoiding visiting this place for years since it opened even when living in Bridgewater, I finally paid a visit at lunchtime. It is clearly far from a steakhouse type (going by the namesake steak house down the road) burger place, maybe just comparable to McDonald’s. The burgers are small, the buns are served cold (apparently the cheese will melt if they were toasted), almost no options for any real sides, and fries are super ordinary. The place is only good if you have kids who can have fun in the adjoining play area. For burger lovers, I would recommend them 30 Burgers just a little over 3 miles away on Rt 22W in Branchburg where burgers are just great. This polace barely...
Read moreTL:DR Poor quality food, mediocre atmosphere, not enforcing mask regulations during covid pandemic, not wiping down tables during covid pandemic, price is expensive.
Update: December 14th. 2021. I figured that I would try the restaurant again after 10 months of post this review and nothing has changed. This time i got a burger and a milkshake. Both were bland. Still would not recommend.
First. I would like to start off with the atmosphere. I have been to Char burger twice now. The first time was outside at the window area. The second time was indoor dining. Both times the music has been extremely loud. It’s hard to even concentrate reading the menu, let alone hear what the employee is saying when I am ordering my food. This has been the case for both indoor and outdoor dining. I am not at a concert but a restaurant.
Second. I am a healthcare worker. Many of the employees are not wearing their masks properly or some of them not wearing them at all behind the counter. Heads up we can still see you from the front counter. On my first visit at Char burger, there were plenty of customers who were not wearing masks while ordering and waiting for their food, yet staff continued to serve them.
Third. The employees DO NOT wipe down the tables and chairs after customer leaves. After being very observation I noticed two family leave and not a single employee went over the that table and wiped it down. Another customer was able to enter, order their food and sit down at the same exact table I saw someone sitting at without it being clean.
Fourth. The quality of the food needs a lot of work. It feels as though Char burger hadn’t gotten the kinks out yet. The bun that they use is thin and gets soggy by the rest of the stuff on the burger. The most important part of the burger is the bun because it holds everything together. The portions on the burger also need adjusting. Positive note their Milk shake was good, however, the employee who made it was extremely cheap with the whipped cream.
I would place the quality of the burger overall similar to a burger you would receive at McDonalds.
P.S. Think why would you go here when a bigger, better quality burger is 10-15 minutes away for the same price...
