Honolulu Hawaiian BBQ & Poke Bar — Restaurant in Bridgewater Township

First of all, Mahalo for bringing Hawaii BBQ near my home 15 minutes away. I had to try it out.

I had the BBQ Mix Platter and Spam Musubi today.

Cons...

The Spam Musubi...rice was dry and not enough of it. Wish it had more rice and Furikake to make it worth the price.

The BBQ Platter, unfortunately the beef short rib was dry (might be a little overcooked).

Pros...

The BBQ beef and BBQ Chicken (aka Plate Lunch) was cooked to perfection. Chicken was Juicy and flavor was delicious. The marinade and juices added to the white rice was perfection. The macaroni salad was authentic! It is literally Hawaiian comfort food (my relatives in Hawaii approves of your dish) and brings this whole plate lunch/platter together.

Improvements...

Please add Pork Roll/Taylor Ham as Spam substitute. It is a superior version of Spam only offered in NJ. I made Pork Roll Musubi a few times and I prefer it over Spam.

Find fattier cuts of beef short rib to make it juicy. The marinade itself is amazing.

Offer Homemade coleslaw as an option besides Macaroni Salad.

I would definitely come back for the Garlic...

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying some truly good, genuine Hawaiian food here, and let me tell you—this is definitely it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a meal. It’s rare to find a spot that captures the heart of Hawaiian cooking while delivering top-notch service. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of their menu!

I LEFT...

Got a poke bowl with 3 different proteins and barely got any fish at all. Bowl was 90% rice. Got cucumber in the bowl as well and there was more cucumber in the bowl than all 3 proteins combined. very small amount of avocado as well. Taste was good but if i pay for triple protein and get barely even one serving size, that’s not worth the money. Bowl looks big in size but they give you 90% filler ingredients and the stuff you actually pay for you barely get any of. The crazy part is that the server who was making my bowl actually put some of the fish back into the container it was in, probably because the manager makes them be super cheap with the portions. I usually never write reviews but i felt like this was really taking advantage of the customers and you should be aware of this before you spend your money here. Other poke places will give you much fairer portions for around...
