My original review was basically an emotion so I deleted it. I want to be more constructive as to why my family and I are choosing not to return to this establishment for meal.
I will go into detail, but let’s get straight to the issue what my family paid for this meal I cannot believe how expensive it was for what we received in serving science. This was bad so here’s my evaluation free item. Family felt that the gumbo was spicy and the vegetables were not cooked. Having had gumbo since my introduction to it during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics I have enjoyed gumbo and I know that okra usually is crunchy and it was gumbo but it was just too spicy and, the women did not enjoy it and refused to eat it
I ordered a four piece chicken basket. The four pieces included a chicken wing that was all breading with nothing to call if there was chicken of any kind on the bone. I had a chicken thigh. The breading was crunchy like the other pieces and there was some meat to it. OK that’s Peace number two Peace number three was the, the breast which had a lot of meat on it and it was OK the fourth piece. I think the fourth piece was a leg, but it really wasn’t much except for breading all over the leg that didn’t make it memorable for me.
I was given french fries the others couldn’t eat and I tried them and it just did not hit the spot at all like other establishments by mashed potatoes and gravy were just the instant mashed potatoes with a little bit of gravy. I can get in any other chicken place so this was unimpressive either
The biggest disappointment for the family was the chicken strips. They were so small that they didn’t even compare to local competitors of established brands that do a much better job with chicken strips.
So I was able to eat most of my dinner and enjoy it, but the family was so disappointed and upset by what we paid and for what we got in terms of low quantity of goods for what we paid for, we decided not to support this establishment again, even though we’ve done in the past many years ago
Again, this is our opinion I’ve been around many establishments in Southeast Michigan where we try to support local businesses and And . Hope that they do well but once in a while, you get an experience it just doesn’t fit the budget with something memorable to want to return to.
I will say that the server was really really nice and that was a plus she deserved a pat in the back
Yes, the meal for the three of us didn’t indeed cost more than $50 and that’s just too much for disestablishment. We could’ve done so much better elsewhere within walking distance. Being local I’m very...
Read moreOkay so first off don’t listen to the rude review and let me share an actual honest review. The gumbo was great very flavorful an not spicy at all. I did order spicey chicken meal though with baked beans and Mac and cheese. The have a lot of side options that’s just what I chose. Chicken was hot and fresh big decent pieces, actually could have used a bit more spiciness to it but still very good. The corn muffins were good too perfect lil sweetness to them and they were soft and fresh. Place was clean, others were in there ordering when I walked in nice atmosphere and I did have the chance of meeting the new owner also a very nice gentleman we had good convo about the food and what was to come. I asked him if they would be getting walking taco bags an he is, super excited about that cause they are hard to find around here lol. All in all I recommend you stop in there try the food out yourself, nice variation of options like ribs as well. They are trying something different and we could use it in this area. That’s my honest review and I will definitely be stopping...
Read moreThis place has gone down hill. Everything looks like it's premade and sits out a long time under lights/on steam. Tried twice this year to give them the benefit of the doubt.
First visit: I waited for 15 minutes with 1 person in front of me and then told standard chicken I was ordering would take approximately 20 minutes. 35 minutes to get food plus time to eat is a bit long for a run in chicken shack... I don't have this much time on lunch break and would not recommend if ever in a hurry. They can't seem to work through customers in parallel, it's always do one customer all the way through at snails pace and then start the next one.
2nd visit: Paid $5 for a small mashed potatoes and then when I asked where is the gravy, I had to pay another $2.50 separately for gravy. That's seems a little ridiculous that gravy doesn't come with mashed potatoes, when it's not separate on the sign.
I understand things are tough due to pandemic, staffing, and inflation, but there's better food, with less cost and wait all over Brighton. I...
