Went to Label between Thanksgiving and Christmas with some friends from out of town. It was about 8pm on a Saturday night and a band would be starting soon so we were hoping to spend the remainder of the evening there. The hostess told us that it would be about 45 minute wait which was not a problem for us. We were the only party waiting (4 women) for a table. I was sent a text message showing our place in line and we headed to the back of the restaurant to order something from the bar. After almost an hour of waiting, I went up to the hostess stand to see how much longer it would be and the young girl working told me that we probably wouldn't be getting a table at all. I was shocked and asked her how that was possible when we were the only people in line and she said "I told you you wouldn't get a table tonight when you first came in." Completely taken back, I told her that wasn't true and that if we knew we were never going to get a table, we wouldn't have stayed. I then asked her why I was sent a text message then, if we were never going to get a table, and why was I told that as soon as I received the text message, if I didn't check in within 5 minutes, my table would be given away? She had no answer. So, I told her that I would speak to a manager. When I went back to my friends I started to look for a manager when one of the waitresses came up and asked me not to stand near an empty table because it was reserved for special guests. I didn't know that standing near an empty table was an issue as nobody in our party was using it to set down their drinks or sit down. I kindly told the waitress that we would be happy to move as soon as the guests arrived and, as she turned away she used an expletive to call me a name. I did not hear this, one of my friends did and it was said loud enough for people at surrounding tables to hear. When I finally got in touch with the manager to explain my situation she was very defensive at first which I found off-putting. My friend came up and addressed the waitress calling me a name while walking away and the manger grew even more defensive. I tried calming the situation down and just wanted to get to the facts about why we were not told an hour ago that a table would not be possible. After a bit of back and forth the manager did see where we were coming from and was going to have a talk with the hostess stand to see what happened. At that point my friends just wanted to leave. I was embarrassed that people traveled over an hour to spend time in our neighborhood, for a girls night out, and were met with such an experience. I get it, bars are busy on a Saturday night, especially when a band is playing. However, transparency goes a long way and that's all I was looking for. Also, customer service goes a long way as well. If there are staff that feel comfortable calling patrons names and there is no accountability, that's a problem. Do better Label. Brighton is a beautiful place to gather and spend time with friends. This type of environment will not...
Read moreA cozy restaurant nestled in the historic downtown district of Brighton. The renovation and rebranding of the previously known Stout brings an ambiance and crowd that is welcoming to all. I attended with a group of 8 around 6 in the afternoon. Being a holiday weekend, this eatery was bustling with locals and potential travelers trying to get some grub on their Independence Day weekend. I was recommended this establishment by a close friend, and upon arrival, was excited to see what they had to offer.
Dill Pickle Chowder: Given the balmy and stifling weather, a soup would not typically be in consideration. Nevertheless, the exquisite name of this soup intrigued my palate and presented a mystery that I felt needed to be solved.
Viscosity - the fluidic nature of this soup provided nothing but satisfaction to my senses. It was evident that the kitchen has mastered the art of making a roux that could provide sustenance to any soup in need of character. 10/10
Flavor - truly marvelous and scrumptious. This soup brought flavor to the table that was more than adequate to not only me but the crowd that surrounded my bowl waiting for the chance to get a relish of its intricacy. I think a touch of heat, perhaps black pepper or cayenne pepper, would let this soup meet its true potential. 9/10
Contents - unfortunately, this was the only aspect of this dish that I felt requires additional attention. Potatoes were of great abundance, but slightly undercooked. Additionally, the use of other vegetables, even if in not in notable quantity, would provide an abstract sensation that I think other foodies with a refined palette would appreciate. 5/10
Overall rating: 8 out of 10.
I also ordered a the chick-a-dee, which was delicious. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to fully review due to too much food and fun with friends LOL! Id give it an 8.7 out of 10. I’ll...
Read moreWe were out for a birthday and drove down from Saginaw because we heard very good reviews. We had Savannah as our server and she was absolutely fantastic. She helped make the most of our multiple issues we had when it came to dinner and multiple drinks. We started with rounds of drinks and apps. The prices seemed high but the food amounts matched the prices and we were excited for dinner.
After placing our orders we got to our third round of cocktails. Two of the drinks were not made correctly. One being the blackberry bourbon drink that tasted like jalapeño. Another was the wrong spirit in the rocks. We shared this with Savannah and she got fresh drinks remade. Then other short rib was not available so we ordered a second filet for replacement. After 20 minutes the second filet came out alone; we were not told if any other food was coming or not by the woman who dropped off the meal. When the guest started eating, his mashed were refrigerator cold. The steak was ok, while overcooked - was edible, but we couldn’t fathom why the mashed were so cold. We let Savannah know and she went to have another one remade. I think our food was forgotten or placed somewhere where it got cold because we waited another 15 before our food came out. The fresh food was warmer but unfortunately both filets we had ordered were both over cooked. Savannah offered to have them remade again but we didn’t want to wait any longer for dinner.
Overall I do work in the industry and this isn’t to be malicious. I think the restaurant was good and hope to have a better experience next time. It’s just very disappointing this was our first experience and something happened to...
