I found this place thanks to a review on their kamakazi sushi roll🥳 (the location doesn't do this place justice) everything about this place is great, nice music, very kind service and workers, the interior is beautiful clean spacious and relaxing. the bathroom is also nice and very clean and relaxing as well. the food is amazing😍 the kamakazi was definitely my favorite. The kids meal was such a generous portion, I was surprised. our specific server David was beyond great, very friendly and even helped my daughter scoot her chair in. He made small talk and detailed helpful suggestions when we asked and never made us feel rushed which I think is highly important, I don't like feeling rushed and inconvenient when visiting a restaurant especially a new one that I'm not familiar with. He also helped clean up my daughter's spill, he made us feel comfortable and welcome and when it came to be busy he made sure not to forget us and still made sure we were taken care off. I highly recommend getting the sake bomb with a friend! We didn't know what it was and it was so fun and it was really good too! This was such a good experience that my friend and I decided we'll be coming more often and making a sake bomb tradition. The miso soup is also really good and i love the salad and their ginger...
Read moreNice change of venue from our normal Sushi joints in New Hudson and Wixom. Sushi Zen is tastefully decorated and has an extensive menu both for the Japanese and Korean palettes. The portions were generous but should be because the prices are proportionally higher than competing Sushi places. We were there with Family on a Sunday evening. The place was busy but the staff was upbeat and courteous, finding the perfect place for us and our service dog. The waitress was ready for our order in no time but we needed time to examine the extensive menu. With a couple of notable exceptions, the food was generally very good and the portions large. We walked out with take home boxes. Starting with tempura shrimp, it was perfectly cooked and huge. The octopus salad was also plentiful and tasty. The miso soup and was nominal and the house salad refreshing. The spicy tuna hand rolls were giant and the tuna very fresh. The rice could have used a bit more polishing rinse because it was very sticky. It could also have benefitted from a bit more rice vinegar. The bulgogi was tasty but a bit dry. The portion was huge. We will probably return to Sushi Zen even though it is a 20 minute drive from home and about 25% more expensive than our regular sushi place, if only for the great service and...
Read moreLet me start by saying, I absolutely LOVE the food and service at Sushi Zen! It is the place I choose to invite my friends to for my birthday celebration every year, among the countless times I dine in or get carry out in between. There is only one issue I have to get off my chest, that I hope the owners will take to heart. It concerns the men’s room, and I would assume this applies to the ladies room, as well. The cleanliness is always on point, which is appreciated, with floors manicured of debris and never a foul odor to be found. They have adopted a touch free system for handwashing, including a sensored faucet, soap dispenser and a powerful Dyson hand dryer. The use and presence of paper towels is thereby eliminated, which leads to the problem: how does one open the restroom door with their clean hands without having to grip the germ laden door handle in the process, other than using their shirt as a makeshift glove to do so? Touch free is wonderful, but please finish what you started by providing a footplate at the bottom of the door so that we can make our exit without undoing the sanitary state of our hands. Thank you for listening to this valid concern. I will continue to be a lifelong patron and hope to see this acknowledged in the...
