WOW... We used to dine here often but have been fading away as the quality and service decline. After our last visit, we won't be back! First off, I don't want to smell your bathrooms as soon as I walk in the restaurant. Stand anywhere near the hostess station and there's a STRONG SMELL of bathroom chemicals! I can't believe no one has addressed this. It's been years...
PRICE INCREASE- Your prices were always a bit high for the quality of food and service provided but the recent price increases are offending!! We literally sat down and browsed the menu, then got up and left. This quality of food is not worth these prices. Many of the reviews mention this... Looks as if they just hit the menu with a 25% price hike across the board. Oh, and when we asked the server what is popular/good, she recommends the 3 most expensive items. :)
On a previous visit, the GENERAL MANAGER came to the table as the server was behind and suggested the artichoke spinach dip. When it came to the table it looked as if it had been sitting in a steamer table for hours and was all brown and burnt tasting/smelling. They tried to cover it up with a little fresh cheese on top but you could see and smell the burnt dip. Not sure why she didn't even notice while carrying it out to our table. When I mention it to her she confirmed it is held hot in a steamer table and tells me they usually throw it out when it gets low. (That's real cost effective) Cheese and artichokes are expensive!! So we told her we didn't want it so she offered to box it up for us togo! ...Like we want something we're sending back. We also asked her a few questions about the menu. Turns out she doesn't know much detail either as the newly promoted chef gave us a different story!
*Address your bathroom smell. That should not be the first thing guest smell when entering your establishment. *Servers need more training. They need to be more knowledgeable about the menu and should have better awareness/utilizing moves. Treat all tables as one. Be observant as to what is needed. Don't say "huh" if you don't hear someone. Basics... *Food should be hot and...
Read moreEditing this review because my last two visits have changed my opinion. Should have heeded the big Red Flag when walking in…it’s not a good sign when one of the nicer Brighton restaurants has ratty old duct tape over their hours posted upon entering. I have visited Stillwater twice in the past 6 weeks for the Happy Hour, which is available in the bar area exclusively. It is agonizingly slow to get a drink served while at the bar.
The main bartender, I believe her name is Molly, is courteous for the very brief moments when speaking with you, but blatantly ignores the patrons unless someone . Do not expect her to ask if you want another round, to order food, to cash you out or check on you in any way. It is the patrons job to flag her down for each and every thing you need during your stay. She has all the time in the world to socialize with coworkers and has an uncanny ability to ignore the patrons. My friend ordered a cosmo and had to wait extra long because Molly didn’t ensure the bar was stocked and didn’t have any cranberry juice on hand.
The food was good and served promptly once we were allowed to order. The spinach artichoke dip is the best you’ll find. The Brussels sprouts are crispy and flavorful. We were disappointed with the shrimp bruschetta which was served on soggy bread and topped with a sauce that did the dish no favors.
Overall, I am so disappointed with the bartender and her rudeness and disregard for doing her job that I won’t be back any time soon. I will say she’s saved me money each time because you can’t get a second drink there - she’ll never ask if you want another round, and I didn’t need to tip well. Towards the end of yesterday’s visit, a younger woman was behind the bar assisting. She carried the lions share of the work and was pleasant and if it weren’t for her I’d probably still be sitting there waiting to cash out for my one drink.
This is my original review from 5 years ago: Excellent menu selection, everything I've eaten there has been fabulous. Above average service and a spacious dining area provides patrons a sense of privacy. Can easily accommodate large...
Read moreI have long been a patron at Stillwater. It was tradition in my family that when someone turned 18, my parents took them out to dinner at Stillwater, usually for the ribeye. I have known many people that worked there, and have eaten dinner with large groups of friends/coworkers many, many times. I was there just last night, 04/17/2017, and was not entirely thrilled. Mind you, the service is fine, and the staff is very friendly. In fact, a server I had the previous visit (I think her name was Sydney?) welcomed me back after having helped me only once! Impressive! The gentleman that was my waiter talked to me twice. He took my order and later asked me how it was before I had taken a bite. This was after someone else (assuming she was the head waitress/manager) brought my food. She also cleared my dishes. I still left him a hefty tip. I always order the ribeye, medium rare. Last night, the steak had quite a bit more gristle than a ribeye usually has, and the most disappointing thing was the amount of what seemed to be A1 steaksauce dumped on top of the steak. We're talking a pool. I couldn't take a bite without Worcester/soy sauce taste assaulting my taste buds, and overriding the flavor of the steak. I am not usually picky, but I feel that paying 26 dollars for the steak alone merits a cut of meat that wasn't just dunked in A1 and tossed on my plate. I can go to Bar None and get a slightly cheaper steak for way better quality! Please fix!! Hire some...
