I’m an editor for a strictly South Jersey magazine, and it breaks my heart every time I fall in love with a place outside my coverage zone because I’ll never get to professionally rave about it.
But I’d also never be allowed to spend more than 50 carefully chosen words celebrating Caffe Giovanni, and I’d rather praise it with all the over-the-top superlatives it deserves. And it so deserves that and all the enthusiastic fans it’s already won in its short existence. Like, I’m legitimately grateful there’s a bridge between me and this gelato because it is as incredible as my impulse control is nonexistent.
Five stars for the ricotta gelato alone, which my husband ordered with all the confidence befitting a flawless first impression this place made on him. Pairing that with everything else we got (an expertly recommended dollop of fruit we couldn’t refuse; my own blood orange gelato; an eclair that I badly wish I’d ordered as a dozen more) is the best life choice I’ve made in ages.
It’s going to be impossible to trust anywhere else with sweets now that I know this place exists (and, as a bonus, is run by folks so charming that two introverts genuinely enjoyed the conversation), especially with so many gelato flavors...
Read moreCaffe Giovanni had a soft opening today, and it did not disappoint! It's a beautiful open space when you walk in with seating from the front of the cafe all the way to the back. The first thing you see is a FULL case of gelato imported straight from Italy. There are flavors for everyone! The pastry display is along the side of the counter towards the back. They weren't fully stocked since it was the soft opening, but there's plenty of room for baked goods and take out, like the pitzelles I got, and in addition to coffee, there is a refrigerator with imported Italian sodas. I decided to try the affogato and it was absolutely perfect. The coffee is some of the best I've had in a while. I also tried the black and white cookie cause what's more Italian that that? Lol I'm a little disappointed that they're not open for business yet because I'd love to go back and get another coffee tomorrow!!! Make sure you keep an eye on this new local business and check them out, they should be opening in the next couple of weeks. They're located right on Mill Street across from...
Read moreMy husband & I have been to Caffe Giovanni twice since they opened. The first time, we got espresso, cappuccino and some pastries. I love that they are doing authentic Italian style coffee. And it was delicious!
More recently, we stopped in for gelato and it was so good! I tried the Stracciatella (my fav) and my husband got tiramisu. We can’t wait to go back, lol.
The staff is amazing as well. The owner explained so many things to us when we first came in. He talked about the coffees and pastries. Such a friendly guy! And the second time, two women were working and they were so pleasant and helpful.
I also love the quiet Italian music playing inside and outside. It adds to the charm!
What an amazing...
