I have to be honest me and my wife left here thoroughly disappointed. I love Mexican food and have always been told that Casa was one of the best places to eat. it's sad to say that my first time eating here is definitely going to be my last. First off, we sat down and waited 15 minutes, just to get a server to get drinks. I'm usually not too picky because I've worked in many restaurants to include very busy ones so I understand when it gets busy but in my personal and professional experience, I didn't see why we waited 15 minutes, just to get someone to take our drink order. I also ordered a small margarita which by the way tasted very weird and the glass was very warm like it just came out of the sanitizer. correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure margaritas are supposed to be served chilled. especially if it's on the rocks. I also saw weird little specs floating in the margarita, which was definitely not supposed to be part of the drink, which was a big reason why Didn't even get through a quarter of it before I decided was not going to finish it. The menus were very sticky and had food residue all over them, The restaurant was decently clean, but definitely could use a pick me up. For my meal, I chose the Chori Pollo, which was one of the worst meals I had ever eaten in my entire life. The description said grilled chicken breast, Which ended up being a very large flat piece of chicken about the size of a big pancake, which tasted like rung a soapy dishrag over the chicken. I've never seen a restaurant make a piece of chicken so weird that I was almost turned off just by the way it Looked, I would've at least thought it would've been a smaller piece of chicken breast especially not one that was flattened out like a pancake. The beans tasted like coffee beans, if you can believe it, And the sausage that they put on top of the chicken Had way too much spice to it that I could barely even taste the meat. Funny enough the better part of the meal was just the rice and the chips and salsa. My wife got the chimichangas which were not to her liking at all. It was literally just chicken inside of a tortilla with no peppers no onions, Nothing at all, but chicken, which in her own words "Tasted like watered downed canned chicken." I was so incredibly shocked that we were that disappointed with Our meal that we voted not to even finish it and go to Burger King instead. Personally, my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Tri Cities are Los Jalapenos, California Grill, and Ole Guacamoles. This was definitely a bummer because everyone that I know talks about how good this restaurant is, I just can't bring...
Read moreWe hadn't been back to Casa in a couple years. We stopped going because the quality of the food started to change. Decided to go back tonight...should've went somewhere else. Service was fine. This is about the food. Chips and salsa were mid. No more bowls they just give you those disposable portion cups. You can get a corner of a chip in there at a time. The red salsa was salty but I added the Valentina sauce to it and made it better. The white sauce seemed thicker? I know its been a few years but I thought it was thinner. The cheese sauce seemed off as well. Just seemed bland. There wasn't any zip to it. I ordered the carne asada steak, that was flavored with nothing. No marinade flavor whatsoever. No citrus, no garlic not even a hint of salt. Thin and dry. Am I supposed to say how I want the steak cooked so I dont get a dry steak? Because I wasnt asked. The best part of the plate was the refried beans. Once I mixed it in with the rice that part was actually flavorful. Carne asada is basic. Its basic comfort food. The comfort food dishes should be the ones that taste the best. Are you all afraid of using spices? I am not sure what the other reviews are talking about when they say their food tasted good. And I am totally ignoring the one and two star reviews because they are usually ridiculous. My husband left a $10 tip and I'm like why. He didn't really know because he didnt like his food either. He had a chicken enchilada platter. Pretty straight forward on that one. Chicken was d.r.y. We were discussing the experience in the car and how there were so many people coming in. He made a good point: the food is cheap-ish and its on the parkway. And I'm going to add that they probably do not care that it tastes bland. I am partial to Calaveras in Johnson City and so far nobody is on par with them. You know why? Because they have flavor...
