My lovely wife and I took off last night to dine out. The kitchen had just closed at the place where we intended to go. After driving around for a while we ended up right near Tamboo Restaurant in Brockton. But next to Tamboo we noticed a little restaurant called Preto's Island cuisine and we just needed a place to grab a bite. After some debating, my wife suggested we go in and check it out; and Island cuisine did not disappoint. From their live DJ and music to the delicious and well seasoned cape verdean food all the way down to the very personable owners (husband and wife who co-own and work the place together) who checked on us very often to make sure we were having fun, enjoying our meals and the ambiance - we had an awesome time and it's the best decision we made all night. If you're looking for a super quite place, that's not it. But if you want a pick-me-upper, some good music, positive vibes, good food that's served expeditiously, good drinks etc...check them out. In fact, we plan on going back very soon, except this time with a crowd. We're told they have an outdoor spot behind the restaurant where folks can dine...

Our waitress served us with a wonderful smile. She helped us with suggestions since it was our first time having Cape Verdean food. As good as the food and service were, the atmosphere really set it off. Live music, people dancing and having a good time, and a ton of west African culture...
