When we first found this place, we thought it was great value for taste. It became our go-to pizza place. Lately however, when we go we get charged $60 for two pizzas (not counting the tip they try to get you to pay just for picking up your pizza) for barely any toppings. I ordered a regular Margherita with added mushrooms, and it looks like they took maaayyyybe a small button mushroom's worth of mushroom slices and sprinkled them sparsely over the whole thing. To add to that, there was barely any mozzarella on there at all, maybe 1.5 small disc per large slice, it was more like eating saucy bread than anything. It really sucks, this place used to be really good, and cheaper.
EDIT: 1) If you fully expect tips to be optional, maybe put up some signage about that, or tell your employees to clearly state that. But you hope people don't think that, hence why you haven't done those things and rely on a tiny skip button instead. 2) Then your margherita pizza has sucked for 7 years and it's only taken me right now to come out of whatever fugue state I've been living in to notice. 3) Kinda hard to walk up to the counter to tell you about it when I've ordered to-go. Plus, pretty sure I'm telling you about it right now via this review. 4—bonus round! I sure hope I find a new go-to place as well, because, though I was hoping that what I had was just a one-off bad experience and was trying to leave feedback, it's clear that there is something systemic going on here. Being basically called a liar and accused of not enjoying your pizza right somehow by who I assume is the owner has certainly soured me...
Read moreBased on reviews, we drove over from Jenks. Lobby was clean and more seating then the other typical NY pizza places in Tulsa area so that’s a plus. Service was good. My wife is from NY so she/we have certain expectations of a place with NY pizzeria as it’s name. this rating is based 80% on the pie authenticity and quality. We looked around after receiving ours so I feel this rating and our pie were consistent with the other pies while we were there.
As first timers, we went with the basic - large cheese pizza with Italian sausage. Price was high so our expectations were this would be a great pie. It was average. Crust was too thick and dry. It did not have that NY, thin crust pie vibe. It was more like little Caesar’s at double price. Not enough cheese. “Italian sausage” were small, thin 1” circles placed sparsely on the surface. Frankly, it looked like a frozen pizza. I know it wasn’t, but that was the impression. Not a hot piece of greasy NY pizza glory. We’ve had dirt cheap, hole in the wall pizza back in NY that crushed this pie and this was expensive so we expected more.
So, Jimmy’s “NY” pizza, sorry but we won’t be driving across town for another pie. We can get a much better pie at a lower price at the other NY pizza...
Read moreIf you're tired of eating the same old pizza from the big franchises, then Jimmy's is the place for you!
Jimmy's is an example of the kind of service I expect from small businesses - high quality food, and friendly staff who truly care for their customers. I saw the owner personally making the rounds to check on the customers, and not just checking on how they're doing, but really talking to them and getting to know them. THAT is the kind of service I love.
Not to mention the food. I ordered a slice of the supreme pizza, and a slice of the white pizza, and they were both fantastic! For the price, I was expecting them to be smaller, but when they came out I was immediately surprised by how big they were. I made lunch AND dinner out of just the two slices. Both of them had ingredients that tasted very fresh and high quality. They were (of course!) made in the classic New York style, with a thinner, crispier crust, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Normally when I get pizza from one of the chains I feel like their thin crust is too crispy, but not so at Jimmy's. The crust was just right.
