4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hubby and I went to Oppa House this past weekend to fulfill my pregnancy cravings and here are my thoughts...
Food Options 5/5 🥈Silver for hot pot or KBBQ only 🥇Gold for both KBBQ and Hot pot along with a wider variety of meats 🛸 The sauce options were on point ☝️ They actually offered Korean sauces like samjang and gochujang a bonus was their Hmong/Thai/Lao pepper sauce which was fantastic (I did add a bit of fish sauce to taste) They have great meat options such as pork belly, pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi, ribeye, brisket, lamb, tendon, intestines, and a simple variety of seafood.
Food Quality 5/5 Everything was fresh including their banchan. You can tell it hasn't been sitting in the fridge for days.
Soup flavor 4/5 We got their house spicy broth for the soup. I was expecting something more like shin ramen flavor but with some adjustments of adding garlic, gochujang, and fish sauce I was able to achieve the flavor favorable to my pallet.
Service 3.5/5 I know they just opened so I cannot give a fair rating until maybe 6 months or so down the road. At the point of entrance we were happily greeted by their host and she directed us to the iPad which I think can be efficient for long waits in the future. We were directed to our seats and our waiter came right away to assist us. Keep in mind he did disclose that it was his first day and there were some hiccups falls under training and managerial systems. Regardless, he was helpful and attentive. We did need to wait a little bit for our food even though it wasn't too busy due to lack of instructions and appetizers being delayed. At first, I didn't like the idea of using the QR code to order, but after utilizing their system I can see how efficient it can be during busy hours. I do appreciate their use of technology while keeping the in person customer service, but can be a bit confusing as a first timer.
Feedback I think I would really appreciate a banchan station next to the sauce but I can also see the pros and cons. Could use some work ironing out the service and use of technology systems which falls on management but other than that we'll...
Read moreWe visited during the week when service was pretty slow. Here is what we encountered:
Pros: The garlic pork belly was really tasty. QR code ordering system worked well. We received seafood and side dishes within 5 minutes (though protein options weren’t available through this system).
Negatives: No dedicated server was assigned to our table, leading to confusion as we were passed between three different staff members. Staff automatically selected gold-tier items without asking our preference for silver or gold options. We ordered healthy herbs soup but received the house spicy soup instead. The beef quality didn’t taste fresh either. One server rushed us through payment, pre-selecting a 14% tip (party of 2) without giving us the opportunity to choose our own gratuity amount.
Honestly, it wasn’t a great experience overall, but we get that it’s their first week open so they’re probably still figuring things out with the crowds and getting their staff organized. The place has a nice vibe though. We might give them another shot next year once they’ve had time to work out all the...
Read moreI went to Oppahouse to try it out before bringing my team. I picked the Gold Tier ($38.99)ea. My grill was way too hot, but no meat or veggies came for 40 minutes. Rice came only after I had already finished eating. Half of my order never arrived, and it completely ruined my appetite.
When I told the manager, they said they couldn’t do anything because they’re still “learning the QR code system.” Yet, I still had to pay the full $128 even though I only received about half of what I ordered. That’s not fair.
My server was kind and really tried to help. I actually felt bad for her because it wasn’t her fault, and I didn’t want her to have a hard time. That’s why I just paid and left. Unfortunately, the manager/owner took no responsibility. A good manager should find a solution, not just push the server to apologize. Because of this, I won’t be...
