I used to really like this place, but the last few times I've gone, it has really gone downhill. The coffee and food is still pretty good, don't get me wrong, but the service is really slow and not great.
For example, the menu clearly states that "All meals" come with a choice of a side, but there's an unwritten exception for the one you ordered, so you don't get one. A customer focused response would be something to the effect of, "I'm sorry, that option isn't supposed to come with a side, I'll get the menu fixed, in the meantime, you could pick one this time since we messed up." Or, at the very least, "I'm so sorry, that meal is meant to be excluded." Instead, you get a simple no with a tone that communicated, in my mind, at least, "why would you even ask?"
It also took a really long time from when we arrived until we had our food. No joke, we got to the counter to start ordering at 12:50, and we didn't all have a plate until right a little after 1:30, and even then, the order was wrong. I get it, it's easy to forget to put a custom order note on the ticket, but at least try something like, "oops, I'm sorry, we'll fix it." I also understand staffing is an issue these days, so you've only got one person up front and one in the kitchen. Then again, it wasn't a huge order and the place wasn't very busy.
The last time I went for lunch, which was about a month ago, they were out of one of the two brewed coffees. When I asked, the reply was not "have you tried our other blend to see if you like it?" Or "I'll brew some more, it'll just be a few minutes." They said, "just get the other one." Turns out, both were empty, so they did reluctantly get another batch going. This wasn't like half an hour before close or anything, they were still open for another 3 1/2 hours.
As I started with, I used to really like this place, and the food and coffee are good. I really like one of the two brewed coffee options, and the specialty drinks are quite tasty. Maybe they'll turn it...
Read moreThe coffee was delicious and the staff was very nice, but I do have 2 things that I'd like to address. One- the coffee temperature was WAAAY too hot, definitely over the 165 degree limit (as a barista in the past I can definitely tell when milk has been oversteamed). Had the lid off of our drinks for over 20 minutes and it hadn't affected the temperature really at all. The second thing, I went to ask for a second cup to help cool off my coffee faster and the associate behind the register reacted very oddly, like it was wrong of me to ask for a second cup. I explained it was to help cool off the coffee faster, and she seemed very iffy about letting me have a cup. She finally did after I said "if it's a cost thing, I don't mind- I just want a small cup". But she handed me the cup and then walked away. I'm not sure if she was new and maybe this was a request she wasn't ready for, but it was really off-putting as a first time customer. I felt like she was going to tell me no for a cup, which again if it was a cost thing I offered to pay for it. I understand businesses have costs to account for and I absolutely want to support small, local businesses.
My comment is not a complaint. It is just to bring awareness honestly for the owner, specifically with the coffee temperature. That could be a lawsuit in the future if the wrong person was scalded from the coffee. Yes, hot drinks are expected to be hot. But this had to absolutely be in the 200 degree range, it's unsafe to serve above 180. And it was not just me noticing, at least 2 others noticed the drinks were too hot.
Wishing this place the best of luck, it was a cute shop and they really...

Not only is this coffee shop well hidden; it is hard to tell that it is a coffee shop. Located in a little row of business suites, it is on the north end. I have driven by it, hundreds of times. There are usually cars out front blocking the view of the businesses’ windows from Main St. There is a sign high up on the front of the building. It is a drawing of a bicycle and some writing that is impossible to read from your car as you pass by at 30 mph. Several years ago, I noticed the bicycle on the sign, assumed it was a bicycle shop and I have never looked again.
After failed coffee at another coffee shop in town, I Googled BA coffee shops and this shop popped up. We decided to give it a try.
It is a small shop; friendly staff and they have a coffee roaster in the building. There is a gym next door, that probably provides a lot of their customers. Their menu appears to favor healthy breakfast offerings, smoothies, and those type of things, in addition to their coffee. The coffee we had was average, not bad. It might be what you are looking for.
For me, I will continue think of it as a bicycle shop as I...
