Well this is my 4th visit to a Marlowe's establishment...due to my first visit to the 950 peachtree location in midtown...which was the worst restaurant experience I've ever encountered. With that said...this location deserves recognition for the awesome experience I encountered. Upon my arrival this professional individual greeted me from behind the bar...later learn his name Stephen. Stephen due to his professionalism, I thought may be a manager...so I chose to set at the bar. I was very impressed with the way Stephen carried himself...one of the first "PROFESSIONAL BAR TENDERS " I have experienced in quite sometime. We struck conversation all while waiting on his 4-6 customers. He was greeting ever customer that entered as well waiting on his customers...it was little after 130. Stephen placed my silver ware and see up as i approached the bar. He immediately asked if I would like something to drink...of course I ask Stephen about the beer on tap...he made a suggestion...i accepted...great suggestion. He was taking call in orders as well, reviewing his inventory and more...never missed a stroke. Then he ask if I had made a choice...I throw out what's his top 2 suggestions...he recommended the french dip or the fish tacos. Now fish tacos is my favorite so I wanted to try this locations because the first location was UNACCEPTABLE. The other 2 locations were okay nothing to WOW about. Service was amazing...presentation, smell and quality truly BLEW ME AWAY...I'LL attach a picture. I was over whelmed with my food, beer and service , which for the first time I was able to give a 5 star review. After finishing I shared my experiences about my Marlowe's visits to Stephen and Kyle one of the managers. I chose to do this because of my awesome experience I encountered ...also showed my prior Google reviews and bad experiences. This location definitely is the Marlowe's of choice for me. I wanted this location to know that they delivered my first awesome experience at MARLOWE'S. I believe Marlowe's executive team really needs to make this location a training facility...because it was awesome , clean , awesome staff and operated correctly based on my experience... LET ME SAY I'M GRATEFUL FOR THIS AWESOME EXPERIENCE...I DO NOT ENJOY WRITING BAD REVIEW...MY SISTER'S ARE COMING IN TOWN THIS WEEKEND AND I'M DEFINITELY BRING THEM TO THIS LOCATION FOR DINNER OR LUNCH ONE DAY WHILE THEY ARE VISITING,.. STEPHEN, KYLE AND STAFF...THANK YOU FOR CHANGING MY PERCEPTION OF...
Read moreMothers Day. My bestie and goddaughter took me out for dinner. The food was OK at Marlows. Fairly pedestrian. We ordered the shrimp and crab nachos. It was different than what we thought we would get. The appetizer was plentiful for sharing. There were eight little wedges of a corn tortilla topped with crab meat, a few cocktail size shrimp (we each tasted only one each in the entire dish) lots of cheese, topped with a fresh jalapeño slice. While it tasted good, it wasn't nachos in the traditional sense. The name was misleading.
My bestie had her favorite shrimp and grits. Not only is it her favorite, but she likes it here better than she does anywhere else. I tasted it. I didn't like it at all. It has a red sauce - tomato based. To me it feels like a sacrilege. The grit cake felt a bit overcooked as well. It did have a lot of small - medium shrimp though.
I had the chicken stack. It was unexpected and boring. Two pieces of baked chicken on top of one another over green beans. The beans were cooked perfectly. Bright green and crunchy. The chicken was, well... baked chicken. Nothing satisfying about this dish at all. There were three tiny crunchy mashed potato balls. I would have preferred the chicken over mashed potatoes or something. Just...blah.
My goddaughter had buffalo wings. They were meaty and plentiful. They were covered in sauce - drowning in it actually. She seemed pleased with it. And was happy with her blue lemonade.
What was very surprising was the cocktail. I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea. I got back an Arnold Palmer. The server sent it back and returned with a concoction that was better, but not by much. He explained that they make their own fresh sour mix and that the fresh lemon can be overpowering. The tea taste was barely there. I was very disappointed.
What Marlows does well is their service. The waiststaff and the manager remembered my bestie and goddaughter from a previous visit. They remembered my goddaughter's drink, which made her feel special.
All in all it was just an average experience for me. I will say that my bestie and her mom have eaten there a lot after hospital visits for weekly transfusions, which has made the experience worthwhile for them. I have always wanted to come to Marlows. I will likely give them and perhaps a different location...
Read moreLast night I came here and ordered 2 burgers and fries to go. I sat and waited from 8:11 to 8:46 for my order. Multiple servers walked past me without saying a word including the girl who took my to-go order and the girl who came and got my payment. I figured since the restaurant was practically empty and not busy at all, that maybe the kitchen was short staffed or something and thats why it was taking so long. Finally the woman bartender came over and checked on me because she’d notice i’d been sitting there a while. I told her I had been sitting there waiting on 2 simple burgers for over 30 mins. She apologized and went to check on it, thats when I heard someone say “that order been sitting there a while”. Oh really. For the record, I did not leave and come back and no one could find me. I placed my order at the hostess table then went and sat at the long table by the bar. The chick who took the order walked past me several times and never said a word. At least 3 other servers repeatedly walked past me, so why was it no one thought to bring me my food after all of that time when it had been sitting there all along? Especially the the girl that took the order because she knew what I was waiting on. When the bartender brought me the order you could see all the condensation on the lid. The food was cold and the fries and buns were soggy. Unacceptable when I’d been sitting there waiting the whole time. You would expect food to look like that if it was delivered or you were late picking it up. Not my case when I’d been sitting there the whole time. I shouldve had hot, fresh food. The manager did try to remedy it. He told me to keep the food and gave me a refund. Appreciate the gesture but I took my refund and gave that garbage back. Wasnt anything we could do with cold wet food, but...
