I do not like to be taken advantage of, and Hovan's did exactly that. I have been going here since 2021. I always get half turkey roll and two sides. My total used to be about $12-$13. However, I went in Sept 2022, and my total was $17.05 for the exact same thing. I was taken back because I was there a month earlier, and it was about $5 less. He told me that because I was paying with a debit card, it was extra fees since the credit card companies increased their rate on them. The math certainly wasn't mathing, but I was already at the register, so I reluctantly paid.
I went again in December 2022. I had written them off but a friend was sick and wanted something light and requested Hovan's, so ughhhh, I went. My total again for the half turkey and two sides was $17.05.
So, I went today 1.11.23 (for the same friend-- I suggested they get a Publix sub at least, but anyway) and ordered half turkey and the same two sides I've always gotten in the past. This time, I asked questions before being he rang me up because the prices on the menu just had me confused, "which combo is this?"Where is it on the menu?"
When he rang me up, it was $14.03!!! It should have been less than that, but for the cucumber-tomato salad, I asked for more juice for the salad, and unbeknownst to me, he charged me $1.00 extra as a Misc item. Smh...
The food is really good, but I won't be returning for me or anybody else! They got over on me! I do not like that at all. Please look at my receipts on Yelp.
Also note: they wear gloves but don't change them. I've had to ask them to change it on 2 occasions-- even today after he was at the register and took someone's credit card and hit keys, which is another reason I should have stopped going.
I do not recommend this place. Integrity is everything. This was totally wrong to do, and this...
Read moreHoly hummus, Hovan! Your food is both delicious and nutritious and also reasonably priced. I just moved into my new Brookhaven digs on Johnson Ferry, and I’m loving the walkability to so many local eateries, including this one.
What really stood out for me as soon as I walked in the door is how fresh and delicious everything looked. Mediterranean food is flavorful and healthy, and I’m so happy to have this option close by.
I tried the shawarma, which was packed with flavor, but it was really the salads that stood out for me. I took six of them home with me, and loved that Hovan has a special price for 3 salads - so much variety - from dolmades to hummus to chicken salad to pasta salad to Greek salad to lentil salad to potato salad to cauliflower salad to tabouleh to babaganoush to labneh - each and every one I tried was deliciously fresh and flavorful.
As a European, I’m very familiar with how authentic Mediterranean food tastes, and I feel like this is the real deal. I definitely recommend you visit Hovan in Brookhaven, GA! You will not be...
Read moreIf you charge your food here, then be sure to check your credit card statement.
My husband and I ate here 1/6/16. Our food with tax totaled $15.71 (falafel combo @ $8.99 + veggie roll @ $5.69 + tax @ $1.03), which is stated on our receipt that I kept. They had a tip jar, but we did not tip because the service was horrible; they were having an issue with another one of their stores and were more interested in dealing with that than with us. When I checked my credit card statement it stated the charge was $20.71, so basically they tipped themselves very nicely, $5, about 30%.
When my husband contacted them to complain they did not respond. My credit card refunded the $5 because it was not worth their time/trouble to bother with it. I'm wondering if the people here know that or just hope their customers will not notice.
The food was decent, but if they will add nearly 30% more to your charge card than what your food actually cost, then I wonder what they may do with the food...
