I am someone who writes only when a company is truly deserving of a review whether good or bad.
I have come into to Angeles's to support and enjoy great food (typically Jerk chicken, Mac&Cheese, and Yams), however, my most recent visit to this restaurant reminded me why there are businesses, regardless of the ownership, aren't worth the visit.
So let me explain why---
Last Wednesday 5/8/2024, I had entered this food service location for the 6th and, likely, final visit.
Reason #1: TIMELINESS Walked-in at about 12:10 PM and left out of the after 1:10 PM, AND NO, there is no dining-in, this is why the environment receives a low ranking from me. You will be standing in a plodding line, which will make you question whether you should eat elsewhere at least twice while you await your time to order. It's important to expedite quality food within a reasonable time frame. If you are considering this place as a lunch spot, your lunch/break time from work would end before you can even pay for your meal.
Reason #2: CUSTOMER SERVICE
During my recent visit as I began to order, a lady kindly asked me for my initials, which are, have always been, and will always be- D.P. At the register a lady kindly asked what my initials are and I shared them with her, (D.P.)
When my order was ready, the woman yelled D.B. (because this is the most effective way for the to alert to a customer that their orders are ready, which is naturally prone-to-error.) I went to go and determine if it was my order called out in error. It certainly was, because the lady who took my initials must've not heard my initials completely, I do not blame this lady at all, because it was an honest mistake, being the it's a noisy environment. Yet, the ridicule I felt a customer from the lady at the register, wasn't only rude/disrespectful, but, it was the assumption of the lady to accus me of giving giving the wrong initials, as if I would give people initials that aren't mine for idle confusion. It was nothing short of ignorant and misdirected attitude.
I have never experienced this before, I mean that wholeheartedly.
Reason #3: PRICING As a result of my 5/8/24 visit, my $80+ order wasn't as enjoyable due to the customer service, which followed after the hour long wait.
I had 2 meals in my order as well as a Meats only option.
Though they seem to be consistent with food quality, I am paying to have the food sooner, so I can get back to work and treated like a valued customer.
What I paid for wasn't worth the portions, the abysmal customer service, nor the time it had taken through out the overall experience.
Again, I've given restaurants with less tasteful menu items better reviews because they...

Prices seemed extremely high to not offer neither public restrooms or a dining room, so don't plan a date by going here and thinking you will be ordering for here to eat onsite; nadda...no can do bro...not happening. They are a to-go, take out only spot! I visited 3 times Visit #1: Greens, Yams, Corn Muffin, and peach cobbler (Everything was on point- Excellent!)
Visit #2: Greens, Cabbage, Corn Muffin, peach cobbler was 1 order; second order was a bar-b-que rib dinner with yams, greens, and Mac n'cheese, Corn muffin for my guest. ( GREENS WERE SO SALTY JUST ONE SMALL FORK MADE ME GAG, so I took them back for an exchange a few days later, because they didn't reopen until the Wednesday after Memorial Day) My guest said hers were exceptionally, extremely almost seemed "intentionally too salty, too!!!"
Visit #3: The greens mentioned above in Visit #2 that were returned/ exchanged several days later in hopes of a more healthy, suitable side of greens, were also way too salty, but by then I chalked it up to "lesson learned." I SUGGEST TASTING YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PARKING LOT to avoid wasting gas to drive back across town like I did over 30 miles each way. Also, I ordered a barBQue rib dinner with Cabbage, macNcheese, corn muffin. ( Ribs were only average, and so was the bar b que sauce, macNcheese was average, Cabbage were on point)
I believe in supporting black owned businesses. I also believe in getting value for where I spend my hard earned income.
Having said that, I highly recommend a cook or chef making it their business to EXCERCISE DUE CARE and concern for the high blood pressure epidemic in our communities by not supplying us with poison to our blood streams, i.e., exponentially high amounts of added salt so high it emits a gag reflex when it enters...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately let me get to the point . from the moment I walked in, I could feel the energy and not in a good way. There was no eye contact, just an immediate eye roll and negative energy that made me feel like a burden instead of a customer. I hadnāt even said a word yet, but it was clear I wasnāt welcome. I tried to stay calm and respectful, hoping the energy would change, but it never did. I was met with attitude, short responses from Tioe? Not sure if thatās her name but she did not have a name tag on and thatās what name I got off the receipt hopefully thatās who it is. It honestly felt personal, like I was being judged for just showing up. No one deserves to be treated like an inconvenience. I didnāt come in expecting perfection just basic kindness, respect, and effort. But what I got was coldness, dismissal, and a clear message āYouāre not worth my time.ā This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasnāt just bad service it was dehumanizing. I hope the management seriously looks into how customers are being treated, because moments like these are the reason people choose not to come back and Iām āPEOPLEā . I donāt take my time or money lightly. And I donāt show up anywhere asking for special treatment just fair treatment. To be met with that kind of energy over something so simple tells me everything I need to know about how little customers are valued here. So no I will not be returning. I wonāt keep pouring my money, time, or energy into a place that made me feel like I didnāt belong. Because respect isnāt optional and neither is basic...
