Parking was easy, this place is in a strip mall, plenty of places to park. Really close to Christiana Hospital.
It wasn't busy when we walked in, they asked us to chose wherever we wanted to sit. We chose to sit at the bar. They had a waitress, bartender, and someone cooking seriously good food in the back. The service was ok, they really leave you alone until you grab their attention. Anytime we asked for anything, they had us covered, so make sure to speak up.
I ordered a Dos Equis Lager draft. It wasn't particularly cold, but I could tolerate it. My guest had a Modelo bottle that was perfect temperature. I'd go with a bottle next time around for sure. They have an excellent selection of tequilas, no list, but they had no problem answering any questions that I asked. Corralejo was $11 a shot, mehhhh. Julio 1942 is only $15 a shot & that's an excellent price. They also had Julio Real at $35 a shot, I'll def be back for one of those.
Coriqueso was a little bland for my taste, but covered on a burrito or chimichanga, could be a real game changer. The guacamole lacked tomatoes and salt for my taste. I fixed this by adding some pico to it. These 3 dips really shined when you mixed and matched them along with their house made hot sauce. The "hot" sauce they brought out was really good & my guest never stopped raving about it. I thought it was good, but I didn't need a warning for that particular level of heat. The salsa they brought out had a kind of steak sauce flavor that I don't prefer. This was called their Tres Compadres appetizer dip. The chips were fried perfect.
I ordered the Morelia Sample Platter. One chile relleno, a tamale, one chicken enchilada, a cheese quesadilla, and a crispy beef taco. Served with rice and beans. Chile relleno was dope af. Right up there with best I've eaten. it was rich, creamy, the sauce was excellent, and the spice was on point. Just thinking about this is stirring up my stomach. Tamale was a solid chicken tamale. It was much better dipped in the house hot sauce. Ground beef taco was good, a little on the bland side. All it needed was a little pico, and a little salt. The beans and rice were decent. The beans had an excellent texture & flavor. The rice was mehhhh. Quesadilla wasn't nothing special. All the temperatures for each food item were optimal.
I ordered a hard shell choizo taco, OMG! This was a highlight for me. The shell was superb, and the choizo inside...
Read moreVery Bad Experience! First off there was a 5 year old boy running and jumping and screaming through the restaurant, who was obviously related to one of the staff members, NOT to a guest, and no one was doing anything about it. Myself and the other 3 tables were all annoyed by this child. He was loud and distracting, and I couldn't even hear my waitress half the time over his yelling. Why was there a 5 year old in a restaurant at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Thursday? And Why wasn't someone getting him out of the dining area? The bathroom needed cleaned, the urinal was broken and wouldn't flush, so it smelled REALLY badly like pee in there, tables were not cleaned well, the menus were sticky, the floor needed to be swept & mopped very badly. There were 2 waitresses on duty. One didn't speak very good English, but was attentive, and friendly, the other that spoke English was grumpy and barely had any voice from being sick. (That was a clue I should have left. Why do I want someone who is sick serving my food?) The Fajita Style Burrito I ordered was very good. Fresh Veggies, Grilled just right. But, the Rice and Beans looked and tasted like they were from an instant package. Very Disappointing. The prices for the meals would be rather good if the sides weren't some pre-packaged powdered stuff. But, $2.50 for a 12oz soda? That's a bit much. especially when most of the meals are $7-$12. Considering there are 3 Burrito and 5 Sit-Down Mexican Restaurants within 4 miles of this place, (3 just around Main Street alone) they really need to "step up their game". With that much competition, you can't survive on just well made burritos, when everything else is bad. Too bad too. I live right across the street, and would have come in many times a month if the place was clean, service was better and food was...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I visited the restaurant about a week ago. We had read some negative reviews about how they have neglected black customers. We enjoy a good Mexican spot so we decided to go nonetheless to form our own opinion. Unfortunately, our experience aligned with those reviews. Other than our initial greeting at the front counter to be sat, we did not have a waiter visit our table for the first 20 MINUTES. We weren’t handed menus or informed of a QR coded menu. Eventually, someone came over and asked if we had our drinks ordered. We said no and to her chagrin, she brought us our drinks. Another 10+ minutes went by and she then asked if anyone took our food order! At that point we were confused on who our waitress was and why nobody cared to check on us in a reasonable time. Other tables were greeted and served immediately. It’s hard to justify the experience when you see that they aren’t that busy and other tables are receiving smiles, attention regularly, and just simply served as expected. I don’t want to assume they are racist but I would say there is a HEAVY bias/prejudice depending on what you look like when entering. A 1 star is granted solely because the margaritas were fire! Hefty amount of alcohol and great flavor!! To their surprise, we left a nice tip but will never return back. My tip for them should’ve been to treat each customer as you treat the regulars. Avoid assuming we fit in a mold of those who may have not been deserving of your service, but I suppose you have more opportunities to focus on pleasing the white locals as if they don’t discretely look down upon you the same as...
