I give blood regularly at BBD’s Hygeia Drive location and always appreciate their flexibility to accommodate my schedule, the friendly, expert care during donation and the kind warmth of the volunteers.  My family history includes diabetes and high blood pressure, so the mini-physical taken prior to each draw gives me a great way to keep track of my health between yearly doctor’s appointments. This is an organization that we need to support to ensure that there’s an ample supply of blood in our region's hospitals.  Donations taken at Blood Bank of Delmarva stay on the Delmarva Peninsula while other national organizations will distribute blood almost anywhere they feel it is needed, which can lead to shortages locally.  I feel that it’s important to give regularly at BBD to ensure that they can keep providing a necessary service for my family, friends and neighbors in our area. How often do you get a chance to save someone's life? Platelet pheresis helps Chemotherapy patients survive their treatment regimens. I donate once/month, on the last Saturday of the month, along with many other "regulars".

They offer a broad selection of Netflix movies on CD including new releases and movies from the past few years.

I started donating years ago, when my Autistic/Epileptic son lived at home, just for an opportunity to sit still and relax for three hours once/month. Now that he's living in a group home I cobtinue to donate because it's the one chance I get each month to help someone in a significant way. It helps me reconcile not really being able to help Ben.

I was scheduled to donate today with an 11:15 appt. I was interviewed rather quickly and placed in a recliner in the collection area. 45 minutes later I was still waiting to be acknowledged. I understand that places are shorthanded and it was a Saturday. However, the two female individuals that were working in the area were more interested in talking about water ice, cheese steaks and pretzels. I have never felt so disrespected at the Blood Bank. Once my procedure was started, there was an issue and someone else needed to attend to me. At this point, both of the initial individuals were no where to be found.
