In my opinion, I’m honestly surprised with how many stars this place has. I was excited to think they had quality pastries with their overall aesthetic and the way the pictures look with the reviews.
I tried a variety of things for my first experience with them and unfortunately not very satisfied with my experience or for the money I spent.
The quiche Lorraine was way too salty to the point of being inedible. Salt should enhance flavor, not overpower it. Even while writing this review the other half of it is staring back and I have no desire to finish it.
The Nutella cruffin was not crispy or flaky like so many others I’ve had. It was chewy and the filling all fell out the bottom when I took my first bite. The filling was very runny and lacked flavor.
The coffee eclaire tasted fine and had many satisfying components to it but the taste of the choux pastry was also very salty, artificial tasting, and a very bad representation of what an eclair should look and taste like, especially being $10 for a single one.
I had high hopes and tried a decent variety of items from here to make up my mind about never being a repeat customer. I’ll stick to the other places around Denver that absolutely crush similar pastries to these and are worth that price.
Please know this is just my honest opinion of La Belle French Bakerys products in comparison to better pastries I have had in the metro area, (and in France, Germany, Switzerland) for the same amount of money. If you have never had pastries like these before you may like theirs, I’m not sure.
Lastly, I am in no way affiliated with Get Rights in Wheatridge but please go visit them for quality savory breakfasts, breads and pastries! THEY are worth...
Read moreI really wanted to give this 3 stars but I just can’t. What they’re doing is probably a crime… in France. The place is just overwhelmingly mediocre. Not with their presentation, that’s fantastic. The atmosphere there is pretty spot on too.
The problem is their pastries/breads/baked goods. You know, the products you travel there for, specifically. This is a bakery… and all your pastries are premade and then FROZEN! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? How do you have a French Bakery and everything you have is premade and frozen.
Did I mention how this is likely a crime in France? Also, how are you going to be a FRENCH bakery and the only palmiers you have are sub par mini palmiers!?! Oh, did I mention their croissants, you know the KEYSTONE of French baking, is entirely mediocre BECAUSE ITS FROZEN!? Seriously, Izzio Bakery’s cross is to decimate these and it’s not even a French bakery.
Oh, also… it’s expensive for what it is on top of that. Clafoutis in Santa Fe, NM… run by a French baker since it opened who bakes fresh everyday, is cheaper than here and infinitely better. In fact, you’d be better off driving the 6 hours to SF if you’re wanting some French...
Read moreI haven’t actually been to La Belle Bakery yet since I live up in Fort Collins, but today I stopped by Lima Coffee Shop and grabbed a few pastries—one of them being a Financier aux Carottes (Carrot Cake Financier).
I took a few bites while driving and immediately thought, “Oh my gosh, this is life-changing!” As a foodie who appreciates high-quality pastries—especially French ones—I was seriously impressed.
When I got home, I called the coffee shop to ask who made that amazing carrot cake, and they told me it came from La Belle Bakery. I looked them up and enjoyed reading about the founder and his journey from France to starting a bakery here in the U.S. As a fellow food business owner (I run two food trucks), I really respect the hard work and ambition that takes. Starting a business—especially in a new country—is no small feat.
The financier was so good I literally went back to Lima just to buy the rest of the carrot cakes they had! I haven’t been to the actual bakery yet, but honestly, if this pastry is any indication, I already know it’s the real deal. Next time I’m in the area, a visit to La Belle is...
