I moved from the diverse foodie mecca of California to Indiana 2 years ago and have really struggled to find decent food on this side of the country. So when I say that Bob's Indian Kitchen has become my weekly go-to for lunches and dinners, you know it's not an exaggeration.
Unlike a lot of other restaurants, they don't cater to "local flavor preferences" and cook it how mātā would, literally. It's family run as you have the son working in the front and family cooking in the back and coming out to serve you.
I always get the Chicken Tikka Masala (Mild) with a side of Rice. My boyfriend orders the Butter Chicken (Medium) with a side of Rice. We then add a Garlic Naan to share and almost always have leftovers for the next day. Both dishes are so rich in flavor and taste even better the next day.
Compared to most restaurants in the area, the cost for 2 to eat here might feel on the more expensive. However, the quality of ingredients and care that is hand cooked into each meal is 110% worth it.
I've had plenty of meals in Downtown Indy, Zionsville, Fishers, and Carmel that were all at the same price point and considered "higher end". But none of those come anywhere near to the quality and friendliness that Bob's Indian...
Read moreFemale cashier was friendly and did a great job; however, palak paneer was extremely thin, watery, and bland for 14.99. It seemed as if it was nearly sold out and they stretched it rather than telling us. Naan is expensive at 4.99 per piece and although we ordered garlic, we received plain. Palak paneer also contained few pieces of paneer. Rice didn't taste like better-quality basmati, and samosa did not taste fresh. Food took around 35 minutes; we were quoted 20-25. I was not at all impressed compared with the Indian food we eat once/week here in Chicago. This restaurant is very expensive for what you receive. Easily the worst palak paneer I have had. Other dishes were just not very plentiful for the price. Prices comparable if not higher than we find in Chicago. Although I ordered all the dishes mild for my elderly parents, chicken korma was spicy enough that we needed yogurt to cool our palates and my husband was sweating with red eyes. So don't count on mild being very mild if you dine here. We spent around 95 on one order samosa, naan, and 4 main courses with 1 drink. Comparable to sit-down restaurant prices, I found this excessive...
Read moreThis place is a precious gem! The food melts in your mouth in the best way! 🥰🥰🥰 My mom said her food was so good that it tasted like dessert! She has the chicken tikka masala and of course my dad and I had to try too. 😊 It was delicious 🤤 I had the goat biryani and it did not disappoint. Colorful rice, tender meat, and yogurt sauce to top it with. My dad also had delicious boti 🤤 All sauces are made in-house! So many good things to say but my FAVORITE item of all was their DELICIOUS cardamom tea! It dispenses from a machine that was imported from India with great difficulty. I'm telling you....it was worth it! Best tea I've ever had at an Indian restaurant! It is an excellent place to get food to go but why would you! Especially when there are FREE refills on this Wonderfully Aromatic Comforting Cardamom Milk Tea!!!!!!! Love love love. I live in Saint Louis and I've never had such good tea and Indian food at any restaurant here. Brownsburg, you have a TREASURE! Eat there as often as you can! Let's support this small family-owned business! I will be back! Bob's will forever be in my heart ❤️. Such wonderful people...
