Just got back from the soft opening of a brand new Korean bistro in town, K-Yummy and let me tell you it’s already a knockout.
The menu is small but mighty, focused and full of flavor. I started with the Tteokbokki and Kimchi Dumplings, and I’m still thinking about them. Perfectly crisp on the outside, chewy and spicy inside, with a nice kick of fermented funk from the kimchi that doesn’t overpower just elevates. These dumplings could start a fan club.
Then came the Bibimbap with Pork Belly, which might be one of the best versions I’ve ever had. The pork belly is rich, caramelized, and melts in your mouth, while the perfectly balanced gochujang sauce ties it all together.
Last was the Ramen, comforting, deep in flavor, and clearly simmered with care. The broth is savory and soulful without being too salty, and the noodles have that satisfying bounce. Definitely a bowl I’ll be coming back for.
Service was warm and attentive despite the soft opening and they are still working on the interior deco.
If this is just the beginning, I can’t wait to see what they do when they...
Read moreMy partner and I ordered pickup of the Bibimap bowls, I absolutely loved mine (non spicy version) and he enjoyed his (spicy). The spicy was actually not as spicy as I thought it would be, and I'm someone who can barely handle Takis lol. So I did like the flavor of his more and I'll be getting that next time. Extremely generous portions as well, was surprised of the weight of each tray. I never enjoyed fried eggs, this place really changed my perspective on them as well, yea, that good. The only thing him and I had to say was the pork we both got lacked flavor, I loved the sliced cut and presentation, but the pork was.. just pork. Nothing special about it at all, compared to the unique flavors of the bowl itself. I'm not sure if thats how its supposed to be made though? Can't really complain about this establishment either, I'd definitely go again. I do wish they had someone keeping up with their Instagram though, to see the journey and progress this place makes. Social media helps a TON with new businesses! But thank you guys for adding something new to brownsville and hope to...
Read moreAs someone who was adopted by a Korean lady and her husband,I have eaten lots of Korean food. and this place is bar none..NOT IT. bulgogi is not just seared unseasoned beef strips put on top of rice..and the other things in that bowl do not go well with it. And why are there glass noodles in the dumplings??? Took 20 minutes to get my food. 45 minutes to get the kimchi the kimchi was over loaded with ginger and kinda sweet.. not even spicy..definitely does not taste like kimchi. I stopped eating just to see if the kimchi could save the food and my my thoughts on it.. well, that turned out to be a bust. good kimchi and rescue just about any dish.. this kimchi made it worse. will not be coming back I will eat gas station week old sushi first. absolutely do not recommend to anyone who actually knows what Korean food is supposed to taste luke.. definitely not how...
