I’ve been a couple times giving them the benefit of the doubt each time, but I have been terribly disappointed each time. I will not delve into previous experiences, because this last one knocked it out of the park🤷♀️.
We reserved a table for Sunday Brunch and were quickly seated. Our server (an older gentleman), took our drinks order, but made us wait over 20 minutes to get two cups of coffee and an orange juice despite serving drinks for tables adjacent. He came back, and we had to re-order our drinks because he had forgotten we had ordered already. We asked for two orders of the most expensive biscuits in the world, which were alright. Then we ordered chilaquiles and chicken and waffles which were good. The food has never been the reason why I come here, but rather other friends wanting to come and spend time in a pretty place. Also, please work on the coffee. It could be so much better!
However, this review is not going to focus on the food but on our server. He has served us before and has been with Lola’s for years now. However, I suggest he needs to go under training to perform up to par to the advertised value this establishment supposedly offers. From poor hygiene to poor service, I always sigh when he serves our table. We noticed he had “something” on his nails this time which we would not like to disclose on an open review. It’s important to keep good hygiene when serving food. He also threw napkins on the table, and he would reach over our heads (almost on top of us) to pour coffee. This is not a taqueria, and I can assure you, many of the most popular taquerias do not even serve your dishes or drinks like that. It was almost like he was dancing around the restaurant doing everything rushed and careless. The most uncomfortable time he reached over was when we handed us our check, and we placed the cash on the table. He immediately reached over one of us to the point where his body pushed the person’s body and snatched the money. It was very tasteless and uncomfortable. Although we understand servers have to wiggle around tables because of limited space, personal space needs to be respected. In addition, this shouldn’t be a problem at a restaurant that charges like its standards are so high. I hope this reviews serves this restaurant as an opportunity for improvement. Most customers do not leave bad reviews even though they’ve had bad experiences before. I really hope this beautiful establishment takes this on a...
Read moreSeems like the restaurant changed. Our server wasn't up to par for the location. If you spoke to her in English it seemed like it was a barrier, Spanish was preferred. The food was not what it was all hyped to be. Had lunch after 1pm and the only menu available was brunch. I jad the Spicy chicken sandwich. For $14 plate, I was expecting an out of this world mouth bursting flavorful chicken sandwich. It looked very good. The batter and seasoning gave a mouth watering look to the chicken. When I bit into it, it was like eating a piece of chicken cooked straight out of the package. There was no flavor, no spice, no sign of the chicken being marinated. At my table being there was a limited menu, all we ordered was the same spicy chicken sandwich. And all of us had the same taste experience. It was all show and no go. Bland. I had to add salt to mine just to get some flavor. My girlfriend asked if she could substitute a side. She was flat out told no. No let me ask to make sure or a I'm sorry ma'am we can't substitute any item. It was just flat out NO, no substitutions. My experience at the restaurant was not good. This is supposedly a highly recommended restaurant. Wait staff wasn't up to par with the reputation of the restaurant. The food wasn't up to the restaurant reputation. This location is overpriced for the service and quality of food. One other thing my brother in law ordered a cappuccino. The manager or owner brought it to him and said I'm sorry they added cinnamon to it you still want it? If not I can take it back. I don't know why they did so if it's a cappuccino and it doesn't take that. He didn't order it that way. She brought it to him knowing it was wrong, and after giving it to him asked him I can remake it if you want. He said no he would drink it. It took a good 30.minutes for him to get it. That is not customer service, if you know it's made wrong why bring it out to the table and then ask if they'll still drink it or they can make...
Read moreI didn't to try the food. I wound up here looking for a diner near the zoo to have a mommy and son date. When i walked in the gentleman at the front desk was cordial as I old him I felt I was at the wrong place. I assumed it was like a restaurant i had been to in Houston. He said well im sure you'll enjoy our food and offered to look at their menu. I reviewed it and thought it'd be fine and asked to be seated. That was until, the mexican woman with the uneven blonde hair and unflattering red lipstick side eyed me and my son. She profiled us and said the best she could do was the front as all other tables had been reserved. In the back and patio. A quick glance towards the back as the open hall way was quite wide confirmed my suspicions. So she reluctantly sat me in front of the reservation area in the lobby where they proceeded to seat 2 walk ins and guide them back. I paid for the bottled nesquik they provided when i asked for chocolate milk and i walked away as i observed them and they avoided eye contact. I cant excuse the complete lack of integrity and hostility these people treated me and my son. This put a dent in my morning as I had to drive away to a dennys which had a long wait time and because my son had to wait extra long to eat, I had to deal with consequences concerning that. If you're a parent, you catch my drift. I won't be giving this place another chance. It's really embarrassing for our community when our own people lack cultural awareness and how to behave ethically. I would have enjoyed a new experience for me and my son otherwise.
Lastly when i googled this place to leave a review, there was mention of a kids menu. I did not receive a kids menu when being seated....
