Los Mismos — Restaurant in Brownsville

I hate to do this but this restaurant let me down for the last time. The potatoes on my potato and chorizo plate were old and stale. I asked to return it and asked for a different plate. This time, the food was good but the beans had a god awful after taste like fish water or something unpleasant. I literally gagged and had to stop eating. I let the waitress know and she was adamant that the beans are the same as on my wife’s plate (they weren’t). I lost my appetite and after chugging my coffee and a cup of water to rid myself of the after taste, I went to go pay. They had the audacity to still charge full price even tho both meals they brought me were bad and inedible. Not once was there an apology from a waitress, a cook, or a manager. I apologized more than they did for even having a complaint and returning food! The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is my wife’s plate came out ok since she didn’t order potatoes and the beans I got the second time around were clearly from a different batch than hers (texture was runnier). I don't like charged $1.75 for a a cold coffee I replaced with a coke. When card already passed thru for charge I was told they couldn't reverse charges and re charge the card. While the argued issue was in restraunt's favor, I attempt to save face by requesting a to go coffee- if I pay for a coffee I should take a coffee. All of this cause coffee was cold for my satisfaction. Again this place showed "No Class" and I let them know. I was given the smallest stirafoam cup available & told it was all allowed due to cameras and owner watched her. This restaurant will say anything, they don't care what they say, just long as they say anything they are happy to be right. What happened to "the customer is always right, coffee is practically just warm water". A business looses their image and for what, $1.75, that is incredible. Took a sabbatical, I used to go here a few years ago, and after while the service and food quality slipped. Decided to give this place another try, and it did not disappoint. Went around 2:00 p.m., on a Thursday, which included: ample seating, order was took right away. Overall every aspect of my dining experience was met. Great service and delicious food! Ordered Enchiladas Americanas de pollo, plate. This included 3 chicken enchiladas, savory rice, refried beans and garnishes for the enchiladas.
