Customer Service: This was my first visit to this establishment I even let the server know, for me if someone said it was their first time in my establishment I would be more welcoming and instead of pointing out the menu I would assist them with their order not walk all around them as if they were not standing there (Which almost made me walk out but I gave the place a chance and prayed to GOD in my head to be in the mist) and further more a smile would've most definitely been the first thing I would've greeted them with (Which would have went a long way with me). The goal should be that you want the customer to feel welcomed and comfortable enough to come back. Once my order was taken it to about 15 mins for my food to come out. I was still left standing there as if I didn't exist( no said hey it will be right out or you can have a seat over here or there) mind you I was the only customer ordering or waiting at that time. I have to ask do I pay now or when the food comes out.
FOOD: I ordered oxtails and jerk chicken, the food was warm when I opened the plate at the counter, as I looked up the server seemed as if she was trying to hold back laughter not sure what for but from my POV if you haven't smiled not one time since I was there don't do it when I look at my food because now I'm thinking you know something isn't right with my food and I don't play like that nor do I appreciate it. So I pay for my food with my card and was left standing there again and once I was notice I was given a look like why are you still in here followed by what else do you need. I explained that I had a question about tge price of the herbal tea they were selling, which I also purchased. In the end I was ready to get the hell on I hate when people act funny towards you for absolutely no reason (that's crazy work)
Taste Test: overall the food was mediocre. I ended up paying 23.37 for oxtails and jerk chicken I was given a lot of chicken but as for the oxtails I was given a whole and a half oxtail and it was the smallest one they could find I think I seen a piece of a potato and the plantains seem a little off to me texture wise. I seen some good reviews and bad ones for me some of what everybody said on the reviews I read was true the positive ones and negative ones I guess it depends on what time you go or how you look or something idk all I know is this is my truth about my experience and my POV. Blessings to the owners and the hands that...
Read moreI read the reviews before deciding to try this restaurant since we are from out of town. The reviews are either false or misleading or maybe we went on one of their bad days. First red flag was one lady who may possibly be the owner stated they had both beef and chicken soup but when I opted for the beef the cashier asked if they had beef soup. The lady replied yes some is still there even though it sells fast. She then commented persons come with their bowls for soup. The lady later returned after I ordered the beef soup and said there was only chicken soup. Also asked if they served white mean to which a gentleman possibly co-owner stated they only served white meat. Placed order for 5 meals. No one else was waiting to be served but it took so long for them to return with it. We started contemplating canceling the order. It wasn't until my husband inquired why it took so long to serve 5 meals and asked if the food was prepared fresh or being reheated, then they brought back 3. Still had to wait another 5 or so minutes for the other 2 and when they came one was incorrect. If you love a lot of gravy, you will appreciate this eatery. They are heavy handed with gravy. Food is not served in front of the customer so a long wait time to receive your food, with no other customer being served or is cause for concern. They taste was highly overrated. Vegetables overcooked, quantity small and just an ok taste, nothing to brag about. They also serve de-boned dark meat. Not sure why they assumed the customers wouldn't be able to distinguish between dark meat and white meat. Overall my family and I were disappointed and we won't be return customers. Customer service was not bad though, just was not honest. Not all reviews are honest. So just be mindful when you decide to try...
Read moreThe Jerk Shack in Brunswick, GA, offers a tantalizing array of Caribbean cuisine that delights the taste buds with authentic flavors and spices. From flavorful jerk chicken to mouthwatering plantains, the food undoubtedly steals the show with its deliciousness.
However, while the culinary experience excels, the atmosphere leaves something to be desired for those seeking an authentic Caribbean ambiance. Despite the presence of Caribbean flags adorning the walls, the predominant musical backdrop often veers away from Caribbean beats. Instead, patrons may find themselves immersed in southern music most days, with Fridays and Saturdays featuring trap and hip-hop tunes rather than the vibrant sounds of the islands.
This deviation from Caribbean culture in the atmosphere might disappoint those expecting a more immersive experience. While it's understandable that businesses must cater to their audience, there's a call for The Jerk Shack to maintain a stronger connection to its cultural roots. Embracing Caribbean music throughout the week, or dedicating certain nights to Caribbean rhythms, could enhance the overall dining experience and align better with the restaurant's theme.
In summary, while The Jerk Shack excels in delivering delectable Caribbean fare, there's room for improvement in maintaining a consistent cultural atmosphere. By staying true to its Caribbean roots, the restaurant could elevate the dining experience and provide patrons with a more authentic taste of the islands alongside their...
