Love having this new location in Brunswick! My first visit was 11/10, not long after the restaurant opened. I arrived with three friends and we checked in. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes so we browsed the nearby bookstore while we waited. The wait actually ended up being 75 minutes, which was disappointing considering how hungry we were, but we were happy to be finally seated. We were greeted by "Moose" who right off the bat had just the absolute BEST attitude. He brought us chips, salsa and drinks and checked on us regularly. He took the time to chat and joke with us while still taking care of the rest of the tables in his section. As someone who's not only been a server in a past life but also a customer service evaluator (aka mystery shopper) and someone who eventually specialized in client metrics for businesses in the customer service realm, I was thoroughly impressed with his ability to juggle a section of tables and seemingly meet everyone's needs - all with a smile on his face. He was excited to be working at Margaritas and even shared that his wife was a bartender there, too!
My second visit was this past Friday night, 1/12. I arrived with my two teenage sons and my brother. We were initially told the wait would be 45 minutes and then were subsequently told the wait would be 90 minutes unless we could find our own seats in the "lounge." I asked about the discrepancy in the two wait times we were told and the hostess said there were multiple parties ahead of us, which really didn't answer the question. We were the only party waiting in the entryway so I assume others must have been waiting in their cars. Within just a couple of minutes another hostess approached us and said, "Party of 4?" I said yes and she explained that she could seat us and we could order drinks and would be served unlimited chips and salsa, but we couldn't order for 25 minutes. We thought this sounded like a good deal rather than stand in the entryway for an hour.
We were soon greeted by Jazz, who had an infectious smile and sunny demeanor. Like, Moose, Jazz was absolutely slammed with work/tables yet managed to keep our drinks, chips and salsa full and even stopped and chatted with us at times as well. I observed her giving the same great service to other tables in our area as well as helping another staff member who was bussing/cleaning tables. Jazz took our food order exactly 25 minutes after she had greeted us at our table (she set a timer on her watch!). While we waited, she made sure our drinks and chips were never empty and kept us updated on the status of our food.
I just can't say enough good things about our experiences with the staff so far at this location. It can be incredibly stressful to work at a restaurant this busy and to always have a full section, but these servers are killing it. A shout out to the kitchen staff as well for two (so far) delicious meals that were piping hot and fresh.
As a side note, when a customer is sitting at the back-most table against the wall which separates the dining area from the lounge (very close to the bathroom), one can see DIRECTLY into the men's bathroom when the door is open - and this includes seeing men standing with their pants down at the urinal. This might be something to consider when planning out the setup of future locations. No one wants to see a man relieving themselves while...
Read moreOrdered a small pizza, a side salad and a soda at 5:15 pm. The app told me my food was ready at 5:40. I waited at the restaurant until they finally got my food to be at 6:10 PM.
One hostess, younger, was very kind, but very busy with lots of customers coming in to be seated. The older hostess, said "food's not up here" and didn't bother to check on the status of the food. She then left the restaurant and disappeared for ten minutes, leaving the younger hostess by herself while a pile of customers arrived. When there was a lull in customers, the young hostess told me she would check on my order and to tell any incoming customers she would be right back. She shouldn't have to feel stressed or put on the spot because the food isn't being served on time and because her coworker left her alone. She returned and said "it's not ready, they're waiting on one item".
The older hostess comes back in, checks the pickup station again and says "the food's not here" and that she can't leave her post to go check. Even though she just returned from outside after leaving the pick-up station. Eventually the food gets checked up on and they give it to me. I say thank you and drive home.
I arrive home, the food is cold, which seems impossible considering I live five minutes away and the food "wasn't ready" until 6:10. Not only is the food cold, but the marinara sauce (which comes with complimentary chips I did not ask for/nor want) was not properly sealed and had spilled all over the bottom of the bag, which was ripped and got over the drink, the food boxes and my table.
I understand restaurants can be busy and a lot are understaffed at the moment. A new restaurant I'd imagine would be even more hectic, but the blatant rudeness from the older hostess and the terrible state of the food is not acceptable. Why have an online order system that doesn't accurately state when the meals are ready? Why is the food cold when it supposedly is ready?
Nights before my mother had ordered food from the same location and had dined in. She ordered her food and a to-go order. The to-go order arrived 50 minutes before her dine in food even though it was supposed to be placed at the end of the meal. The to-go food was of course cold by that point.
There was then a third attempt at this location to get food. Ordered online, went to pick it up, they said it was partially ready and they were waiting on one more item. I didn't get it for 50 minutes after the pick up time and then the food that was done was already cold.
I do not recommend for anyone to eat at this restaurant until seriously overhaul their service. An abysmal attempt at a...
Read moreI’m not sure where the other reviews are coming from personally, but I’ve had nothing but phenomenal experiences at Margaritas the many times I have eaten here. Here are some of my personal recommendations:
Favorite Bar Drinks: Blood Orange Margarita, Mangonada Best drink for those who don’t like the taste of alcohol: Russelrita, Heavens to Margatroid Favorite Appetizers: Chicken Baby Chimis, Spicy Coconut Wings, Hector’s Quesadilla Favorite Tacos: Chipotle Chicken Tacos (spicy) Best recommendation for boozy night: Birria tacos or Birria Quesadilla (consume is so delicious-and soaks up the alcohol 😌)
The food and service has been nothing but phenomenal in my experience. Jacob, Nicole, and Sadie are a few of the phenomenal servers and bartenders whom have taken care of me at Margaritas. I know they have been short staffed (based on the hiring sign) which I cannot fault them for, but they try their best with the smiles on their faces and the communication the servers offer. It is my personal belief that this is one of the best Mexican Restaurants in the area and you honestly can’t beat the prices and the atmosphere this restaurant has to offer. You can even get Margaritas and cocktails to go! The menu also rotates seasonally so you are constantly having the ability to try something new. Best time to dine in is Monday-Thursday (afternoons and evening). Margaritas gets very busy Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so don’t fault the staff for the larger crowds. Cinco de Mayo is also one of their biggest days. Regardless, the staff is phenomenal whenever you do dine in 😊...
