Only a little partnership with food would be needed to bump rating to 5 stars... But, this place is worth a serious visit.
The place has great local vibe. Not some student hangout. Clean restrooms and sunlit tasting room, this place is just what Brunswick needed in the center of town.
But let's get down to the beers. Currently six on draft, with a selection that is great for all tastes.
The Pink Bruts is a must try. Ignore the description, it's a little dry, and little (meaning very little) hoppy so you'd never guess it's an IPA.
The Farmor is their farmhouse ale. It's more farmhouse than lager and while I was there, many asked for lager and were served this ale. It's ok. If you want low alcohol, go for this, but it's so so.
The Box Shop Girls Stout is worth getting a taste. I really enjoyed it and I do like stouts, and this is very drinkable. It's Very drinkable.
Coming in at#4 on the tap list they have Pat, their Norwegian DDH IPA. I was hoping for more on this one. Coffee overtones, earthy, and DDH, but otherwise lacking something I was looking for. Try it. Ymmv.
Then comes the Porter. It's called Inaugurate. I rarely find a porter I enjoy, but I enjoyed this one. Great on the tongue, smooth finish. Unless you have porters, it's a must try.
Rounding out at#6, they offered the Noble Red. Totally un Brett-like, and in Red-like, it was a nice brew! I'm not sure what to call it! Try it and let Moderation know.
If you're from away and drop in. Go for the flight. It's offered at a discount (which should be a state law) so all the incentives are there to...
Read moreWhen I first moved to town, I was searching for a place where I could meet new people and feel like I belonged. Moderation was a perfect fit. It had a chill atmosphere, was inclusive and inviting, and had great beer!
The staff are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, no matter who you are or where you’re from. It’s clear that creating a sense of community is at the heart of everything they do.
Whether you’re into hop-forward IPAs, velvety stouts, crisp lagers, creative seasonal brews, or my favorite sour in existence, "Dang", they’ve got something for every palate.
What really sets Moderation apart is their dedication to inclusivity. They hosts events that bring the community together—trivia nights, fundraisers—and you’ll always find a friendly crowd that reflects the spirit of the town.
If you’re new to the area, or even just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by Moderation. Cheers to the wonderful people who make this place and...
Read moreThis brewery is what I've been waiting for. It really compliments the awesome food scene in downtown Brunswick with so many great choices right outside the door. Take the time to grab a group of friends and buy a flight of beers, you will find at least one if not many beers you like. Their red is my favorite red ale by a long shot, smooth and packed with flavor, very light and drinkable. The same goes for the Box Shoo Girls Stout that tips it's hat to some Brunswick history. Also a very light and drinkable, everyday kind of stout, but in no way lacks that fantastic roasted coffee flavor. Give this wonderful brewery a try and you won't be disappointed. Absolutely a great way to begin or end any night out in Brunswick. Thanks for...
