Atmosphere: Fairly decent size restaurant with lots of room between tables. They had the counter with some beer on tap and the seats were really unique, which went with the overall steampunk decor around the establishment. They had 2 tvs showing the current NCAA football game and could see it as a chill spot to eat/watch the game/drink. Looking forward to what all else gets added in the near future since it has only been opened for a couple of months. They plan to get another steampunk shirt design added to their current rotation of shirts they have now, which feel like a great everyday shirt.
Service: Service was great, although we were the only ones there, she made it a habit to take care of us and ensure our dine in experience was great. She even talked to us a bit about the restaurant and their move to the area.
Quality: In order to compare their burger to others in area, I opted for a regular burger and upgraded my fries to their tater tots. After having a couple of bites, it is safe to say they are one my top 3 burgers in the area. The burgers are hand pressed and packed with flavor. To top it off, the tater tots didn't taste greasy at all, yet had a really good seasoning to them making them unique.
I highly recommend giving them a shot and without a doubt upgrade to the tater tots, you won't be...
Read moreLocal here. First time visit. I’m really lost at all of the 5 star reviews, honest-to-God, because while this place isn’t horrible by a any stretch of the imagination, it’s in no-way 5 stars across the board.
The food was adequate, but not memorable. The staff did well, but nothing outside or above standard service. The atmosphere killed me because it felt half complete with the decorations and general steampunk aesthetic they are going for, and this place isn’t new anymore so they’ve had time to finish it out. IMHO, just was a miss on having a dynamic atmosphere. The biggest thing that bothered me was the lighting, which is bright like hospital lights and made the place feel sterile in an uncomfortable way. Really surprised they didn’t use the lighting as an opportunity to enhance the steam punk feel by using “Edison” style bulbs.
The big pros are the prices aren’t bad compared to other similar restaurants and they have decent weekly deals. The place gave me vibes of a small town joint that has lots of regulars because of the ease of use. Small, but nice selection of beer.
This is the kind of place I won’t pick to go to, but I won’t object if asked to eat there…in the hope...
Read moreWe picked Chubby's because of the high ratings and great reviews. I am a little confused by them because our lunch on Saturday was less than memorable. The service was great, friendly and fast. The decor, and that is a generous term, is non-existent. Basically three steampunk pictures and a couple of TVs thrown in a strip mall location. There is no personality to the place. We ordered a chili-cheese fries for a starter. The fries were standard restaurant service fries with canned chili and nacho sauce cheese. Reminded me of concession at a high school football game. I had the bacon cheeseburger/ fries ($12.50) which was OK with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. My wife split a grilled Pastrami sandwich/ fries ($15.75) with her mom (25-cent split fee) which was OK. Brother had fish and chips ($14) that was fresh from frozen. All meals were charged .50-cent for ketchup which is considered a dipping sauce. It looks like this place survives on the loyalty of the local customers and beer sales. Not a place I would pick on my own, but I think I might eat here if everything else was closed. I think the cost of the meal $(75) is overpriced for the meal that...
