Atmosphere: From the outside, you can see it shares its establishment with The Owl, but dont let that take your eyes from the completed mural on the storage container, great photo opportunity! Upon entering, you can see all the baristas meticulosy working on orders and then greeted by the cashier. The Sunbeam Side roughly has a smaller intimate seating, compared to the vast size of the owl (great for lounging/reading/studying) which it shares, but wait there's more, there is also an outside covered porch area if that suits you.
Service: Aside from the intial greeting, when I ordered my meal, they gave me a number and prompted to sit anywhere and the food will be brought. I ended up choosing The Owl side, due to wanting to read after my meal. Soon after, an employee came with my meal and asked if anything was needed. Upon finishing my meal, another employee came over and was able to pick up the empty dishes. The service that I appreciated the most was that of talking to one of the baristas and having them share some knowledge regarding latte art.
Quality: I ordered the bagel sandwich and the Shakerato. The combination of the egg/bacon/cheese with the flavor of the bagel was really good. The bagel its self had a dense texture and sandwich was very filling. The Shakerato (Shaken Espresso, cinnamon, brown sugar, and oat milk) which was presented nicely, had a great flavor profile. The combination of all the ingredients were gretaly enhanced by having it cold.
Fili's Fave: Although a small gesture, but speaks volumes of their passion for their craft, is the fact that they provide you the drink in a dedicated latte cup and providing various independent retail coffee bags. One of the few establishments who do this and promotes the coffeehouse atmosphere.
Although, The Maple Leaf Latte is pretty amazing, if I do...
Read moreDefinitely the best bagel shop in the area. Everything I've had on their menu has been great! The egg sandwiches feel like home to me. The lox is good. The avocado toast comes with eggs on top which is awesome because most places just smear a little avocado on bread and charge you 12 dollars and you are left still hungry. They have a variety of cream cheese flavors (try the espresso with a blueberry bagel!) and bagel types.
They have a standard menu for drinks and it include an Ube Latte which is one of my favorites. But they also have seasonal specials for that are always interesting and flavorful. I often have a hard time deciding because there are so many good options! This season, is a banana creme latte which says uses fresh bananas and I hesitantly tried it because I like banana but hate artificial banana flavor and every other place uses the artificial banana flavor in banana flavored things. This though was very good. No artificial flavor at all! There is a coconut pineapple spritz which is great as is or with a shot of espresso. They also often have an espresso tonic type drink which you can't find most places. Their Citrus Zen on the menu right now is a must try.
Also, their workers there are friendly and seem to really care about costumers. When I try the new seasonal drinks, I always get asked my opinion so they seem really open to feedback. It seems just like a very positive place and is now my go to breakfast place....
Read moreThe food is REALLY good if they can get your order right… I’ve been here a few times since it opened and in the beginning it was fantastic but these past handful of visits it’s just a negative experience …We get served the wrong food/drink and almost every time we’d ask the staff to correct the issue we were met with annoyed faces, like we were bothering them.…i work customer service so i know how hard it is so i made sure I was kind and polite…then the coffee is just HORRIBLE i don’t know if it’s the beans they use or the barista doesn’t know what they’re doing but the oat milk lattes i’ve gotten lately taste NASTY my friend is a barista and even she couldn’t tell why it was so bad….One time my order was sitting on the counter ready for 10 mins and they never said anything even though i was standing there the entire time, I saw when the barista was done with it but I didn’t want to assume it was mine until 10 mins passed and I asked for my order and she tried to give it to me but I called her out and KINDLY asked it be remade…
This doesn’t include the girl who’s really into Scooby Doo (sorry i forgot her name) she’s ALWAYS super kind...
