UPDATE 08/03/24: THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE! I recently have started eating there more often because it's close to work and I love the food. I usually place my order at lunch so i have it ready to take to work on my nightshift. I call to place my usual order and I start to give my card number to pay as I usually do (someone picks it up for me) and this young sounding girl tells me they do not take phone payments! I tell her that I've done it at least 50 times, I know they do take phone payments. She doubles down and makes the most uneducated, asinine statement I've ever heard, thus far: "they said we can't because if we type a number in wrong, it could charge the wrong person" (it doesn't work like that, exp. and cvv would have to match) and I'm floored. I thought she was pranking me! So I ask to speak to the person telling her these things because supposedly there is no manager during dinner on a Saturday night and then comes the most assinine statement I've ever heard. Here it goes. She says (mind you, I'm irritated but not yelling or cursing or being nasty in any way because I still think its a prank) but...she says "They don't want to speak to you because they don't like talking upset customers". Are you kidding me?! I almsost died laughing, absolutely sure I'm being pranked now. But, no, she was serious. I'm floored. I had to hang up on her. I still don't know if I'm angry or amused by her ignorance on the subject of financial transactions or what....i just want my dinner. I'm hungry AND irritated. I've never encountered someone so inept concerning their job. There were more uneducated statements and banter but I stuck to the basic gist for content purposes. End update
I treat myself to a steak hibachi plate every week. I have it made in a very particular way and they never get angry or irritated, they kindly oblige. I love the food and the employees are...
Read moreWe chose to come here after a long day on the river because they have "outdoor seating".
Their idea of "outdoor seating" is three worn, saggy picnic tables with zero cover. But it's a pandemic, and we hadn't had sushi since March so we decided to eat here anyway.
Our server informed us that we weren't allowed to have alcoholic beverages outside per management. Ok, whatever, it would have made my bill 3x higher, but hey at least I saved money.
The menu is an interesting eclectic mix. They have a lot of your usual Japanese offerings, but they also offer Bibimap (Korean), chips and guacamole, and a few other odd items. I ordered the bang bang crawfish, a bryant roll, and a dragon's breath roll. They were all amazing, and I enjoyed every bite. The food itself would earn this restaurant an easy 4-5 stars. The waiter checked on us reasonably often considering we were outside. The only other table there left about five minutes after we arrived.
My friends tried to stop by again the next day after being on the river, and despite the fact that the restaurant was completely empty, they refused to serve them on the "patio" because there was only one server. So instead of having one table, they had zero.
The food is great. The management and service is questionable. We choose to eat outside to protect ourselves and the staff. Why wouldn't you...
Read moreFirst I'll start with my most recent experience. I came in just after 3:00 today, dragged my 3 kids out after ordering their separate food to bring, got all settled in and was told the sushi chef takes his break from 3-5 every day. Well there is zero way to know this, it is not on the door, not on their FB or any social media/online outlet. I understand many places are closed 2:30-5, but if you choose to be open and choose to not make it known sushi will not be available, that's not great business. It would be helpful to have that posted somewhere, anywhere at all, for those who may decide they want a late lunch or early dinner. Second, I have been told twice now that the owner will not allow them to sell sides of rice by itself anymore, I asked why and it came across to me that she didn't think she was making enough money on simply a side of rice. A small box of rice costs over $4.00 after tax here, I feel there is enough profit there to continue to offer something that is listed on your menu. Again, no where is it posted that sides of rice cannot be ordered individually. I really liked this place and even stopped going to sushi cafe to come here instead, there are places closer to me. But after all this back to...
