The Wyck Recommendation: Allen Burger Venture Rating: 3.7/5 Come for the Sauce, Stay for the Scene
It’s 6:47 p.m. and someone’s tot just hit the pavement. A buzzed table claps, another orders picklebacks, and a kid walks by wearing a T-shirt that just says “MEAT.” Welcome to Allen Burger Venture. Part beer flight temple, part Buffalo street party. It’s packed, it’s proud, and somehow still pulling it off.
What Was Ordered Beer flight with six mystery brews: cider, stout, something aggressively pink The Famous Tots — crispy orbs more hash-brown than tot, but dunked in that apple bacon sauce? Whole other level. The house sour cream was decent, but the apple dip stole the show. Tater-wise: they’re fine. Sauce-wise: elite.
Service Commentary Despite the patio crowd and beer chaos, service held strong. Our server was friendly, attentive, and didn’t miss a beat. The kind of low-key excellent that keeps things running without trying too hard. No complaints, just good energy.
Vibe Check Imagine a Buffalo beer nerd bar collided with a punk-themed Airbnb. Everyone’s slightly sunburnt, a few are flirting badly, and every table feels like it’s one drink away from starting a podcast. Loud, local, sweaty in a charming way.
The Space Itself Inside: neon buffalo signs, low lighting, rainbow string lights, and enough barstools to rotate through three life crises Outside: umbrella forest. Split-level patios. Loud music. Uneven steps. Basically a backyard party thrown by someone with Yelp anxiety Bathroom hallway? One door has a rooster. One has a rabbit. And John Travolta is reading on the toilet. No further notes.
About the Neighborhood Allen Street. Buffalo. You know the deal. Tattooed dads, cyclists drinking IPAs, weird art in windows. Easy to get to, hard to leave without bumping into someone from 2014.
Hits and Misses ✓ Beer flight is fun and broad. Fruity to dark without filler ✓ Apple bacon dipping sauce deserves merch ✓ Vibe is laid-back chaos in the best way ✓ Service was friendly and efficient despite the crowd ✗ Taters are tasty but closer to fried stuffing balls than actual tots ✗ Restroom signage feels like a riddle from a barback’s dream ✗ Patio layout is a choose-your-own-adventure in stair navigation
Final Verdict Allen Burger Venture feels like a local bar that grew up but never stopped partying. The tots were solid, but the sauces carried the team. We didn’t try the burgers this round — which, judging by the reviews, might’ve been the move. We’ll be back to test that theory. Until then: cheers, chaos, and apple bacon dip.

Read moreWe placed an order for two standout menu items: the Number 2 sandwich, which featured New York State cheddar, caraway and horseradish aioli, and came with au jus dipping sauce. We opted to substitute the side of tater tots, which turned out to be a wise choice. The second order, Number 10, was an absolute delight with caramelized onions, fresh arugula, warm gruyere cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and a balsamic reduction. We swapped out the standard side for truffle fries, which was another excellent decision.
The caramelized onions in Number 10 elevated the patty’s flavor, providing a rich yet comforting sweetness that paired beautifully with the savory meat. The cheese was melted to perfection, adding a layer of gooey indulgence that brought the entire dish together. The balance of ingredients in this dish was spot on, making it not only flavorful but also surprisingly light. I’d highly recommend Number 10 over Number 2, mainly because the patty was juicier, and the overall composition felt more satisfying. Number 2, while flavorful in its own right, didn’t quite measure up in terms of juiciness or portion size, especially with the tater tots, which were disappointing—just five small pieces felt like a letdown. If you’re after a satisfying side, the truffle fries are definitely the way to go, as they perfectly complemented the meal with their crispiness and rich truffle flavor.
The indoor ambiance of the restaurant is just as impressive as the food. The decor is eclectic and vibrant, with various art pieces and quirky touches that make the space feel both cozy and intriguing. It’s an atmosphere that draws you in and encourages you to stay a little longer, whether you’re there for a meal or just to take in the surroundings.
Overall, I would highly recommend this spot. From the food to the ambiance, it’s an experience worth having, especially if you’re looking for a meal that’s both indulgent...
Read moreI came here alone, before my flight. The place wasn't busy, since I came in, within the hour of opening. Right as I was being seated , I was given water and the drink's and food menu. I actually already knew what I wanted (having google searched the menu ahead of time). The server was consistent and very kind. The food arrived quickly enough and was superb. The Loaded Totts with Applesauce dip!?✨️🤌🏾✨️ First time ever eating such a pairing. Yet, somehow they worked perfectly together.👀.. For my meal, I got the Truffle Fries with a Black Bean Burger. It's not easy finding good veggitarian alternatives around the way. I was quite surprised by the food. I give the Quality and taste a 9.5/10 Price, 10/10 Portions 10/10 Just a heads up for the Black Bean Burger, it will fall apart on you if you don't cut along the linning of the bread and eat the burger meat around the sides first.. You'll know what I mean, when you see it. The buns were amaizing, the "patty" was as dry/thick as I would expect from a Black Bean veggie Burger. Not to say it's a bad thing, I'm happy it wasn't soggy. I'd say the texture works perfectly with the taste. Just be sure to keep water near by. The Truffle fries were perfect, that's all I need to say about those. Do yourself a favour..Get the Truffle Fries! I didn't get any alcoholic beverages, (because airport), but I'm sure they would've been amaizing. The general atmosphere was very cozy and fun. I whent in the winter, so I had a beautiful winter wonderland type view. But I'm sure this place is just as beautiful in the Spring, Summer, and Fall! I highly recomend this place to anyone bringing, a date, some friends for a night out, family for lunch, or even themselves for some Me Myself and I bonding time! You won't...
