Tucked away on Niagara St in Buffalo, The West Side Bazaar houses a food court. The EGYPTIAN BITES is one of the store, a small, family-run Egyptian restaurant that is one of the true hidden gem. Owned by a delightful husband-and-wife team, the restaurant offers an authentic egyptian dining experience.
The menu is packed with traditional favorites, and every dish is prepared with care. The chicken shawarma is a standout—perfectly spiced, juicy, and tender. Each bite captures the essence of authentic Egyptian street food. The falafel is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of herbs and spices that make it irresistible.
You can’t miss the new kabab, paired with fresh toasted pita bread. The meat is delicious and perfect, especially when combined with the Lebanese salad. The vibrant flavors of the salad, with its crisp greens and bright dressing, provide a refreshing contrast to the richer dishes.
To finish the meal, the baklava is a must-try. Layers of flaky pastry, honey, and nuts come together in a perfectly sweet, delicate dessert that’s both satisfying and indulgent. This is the best baklava I had - not too sweet since they use honey instead of table sugar. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite, and the wife, who handles much of the cooking, brings generations of Egyptian family recipes to the table.
The cozy, welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by the husband, who greets every guest like an old friend and eagerly shares stories of Egypt and their culinary journey. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or buying food for take-out, this place is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the rich, authentic flavors of Egypt right in the heart of Buffalo.

The authenticity of Egyptian Bites' cuisine is truly remarkable, with every dish expertly prepared on the spot for unparalleled freshness and flavor. The falafel, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired beautifully with the rich and satisfying textures of the Koshery.
Yet, it was the baklava and kinafa desserts that stole the show, offering a heavenly blend of sweetness and indulgence that left me craving more with every bite.
The ambiance of Egyptian Bites further enhanced my dining experience, with subtle nods to Egypt's iconic landmarks like the Sphinx and Pyramids, creating an atmosphere of intrigue and wonder.

Read moreSecond time ordering from Egyptian Bites. I mean to try more items on their menu but their fūl (fava bean stew) is so phenomenal and flavourful I had to order their breakfast again!!! It’s a generous portion for two.
I’m not Egyptian, but I’ve lived in Toronto and NYC where there’s excellent diverse poc food. However, one thing I’ve noticed is that there’s a lot of mediocre falafel out there.
The falafel at Egyptian Bites is fresh, tender, and moist—it’s lovely. If you’re a Torontonian and know Maha’s, I would recommend Egyptian Bites to you in a heartbeat. The food court space is also very bright and airy. I met a group of 8 friends there yesterday. We had a great time.
I need to come back for the shawarma...
