Malkia and Co is a Congolese food stall located in the West Side Bazaar on Niagara Street. The food is delicious, savory and flavorful. This was my second time there and everything I've tried is amazing.
This time I was able to get there in time for a portion of the oxtail stew. It was sold out last time and I've been thinking about it ever since. I am happy to share that it was worth the wait. Two nice sized oxtails came with a delicious flavorful stew and a side of foufou. I was also excited to try foufou for the first time. I've heard about it on cooking shows but haven't seen it on a menu until now. It is a blend of semolina and cassava flours that blend together to make almost a dough which doesn't have a ton of flavor on its own. It's almost like an unflavored grits or oatmeal. You mix the foufou with the meat and the sauce on the main dish to sop up the flavor. The texture was cool and I was so happy to have it because that sauce needed to be eaten! I also had to have a side of the plantains because last time they were perfection, this time was no different. Last time I tried a pork dish and a side of beans. Also very good and flavorful. Nothing I had was spicy on its own but there was an option to add a very spicy hot sauce for those that need to add heat.
The owner was there cooking and serving up dinners. It was a pleasure to meet her and she was very sweet. This is a must try when you come to the bazaar. You can choose to order to go or eat in and sit at a table in the west...

My wife and I came here for my birthday and chose a couple of the booths to sample. I picked this one because Iāve never had Congolese food, and my god am I glad I did!
I had the recommended Poulet BraisƩ and as advertised every mouthful was an explosion of flavors. The owner / chef is wonderful, very helpful and patient with my ignorance, and clearly puts all her heart and soul into her food.
Truly, I wish I lived here or at least was staying longer so I could try all the other dishes. Donāt let the food court atmosphere fool you - this is top notch food.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt even know how to describe Natalieās food! It was the absolute most incredible dining experience weāve had in all of Buffalo and beyond! She made us feel like family from the moment we walked up. The Ngulu (Braised Pork Shoulder) and the Red beans will blow you away! Best plantains we have ever had - but really, how can you go wrong with anything on the menu? She takes pride in the quality of her ingredients and preparation of the food coming from her kitchen. The kindness and hospitality our family was shown warmed our hearts as much as the food warmed our bellies. We canāt wait to come...
