THIS IS THE VEGAN SPOT OKAYY!! Please Read If Your A Vegan
Okay so, I recently became a vegan and I've been struggling. I ABSOLUTELY HATE EATING LIKE A RABBIT but tonight everything has changed thanks to the Gypsy Parlor.
So I was skeptical ordering out again because Bufdalo isn't the place where vegan food is widely accepted so the GOOD VEGAN options are limited. I'm tired of processed or overcooked fake meat, I'm tired of eating salads.
What caught my attention at first was the vegan Black Bean Pastilitos. I'm a big pastilito lover and I love black beans so I ordered two with a side of sweet potato fries and fried pickles. When I arrived, my order was ready and the bartender offered me a drink and a seat to watch the game so I stayed.
The First thing I tried was the Fried Pickles, somthing I wouldn't normally order but as I'm opening my palet I wanted somthing different. The pickles were steaming HOT, fresh and crunchy. The skin was flaky and golden and the dipping sauce was also vegan (explained by the waiter).
This is when things got goodt, I didn't expect to demolish the entire order of fried pickles in one sitting but I was so captivated by how GOOD and FLAVORFUL they were. It's been soooooo long since I've had somthing that was THIS GOOD and VEGAN because honestly, in my opinion, most vegan food lacks flavor. BUT NOT THESE FRIED PICKES 10/10.
so now the waiter brings me this drink, it was somthing with black berries and tequila I honestly don't know, the game was on and at this point I was already dedicated to finishing the rest of that food.
So I Buss open the sweet potato fries. This was another option I would normally bypass on a menu but i wanted somthing different. They were served as HOTT as the fried pickles and just as crunchy with a side of honey. OH MY GOD, 10/10 Them Damn Fries Knocked My Noodles Back I have never had sweet potato fries before but yeah, If I ever get them again I'm ordering from here
Now, not to be to dramatic but I was kinda stuffed because the serving sizes were enough to feed a grown man and I'm a smaller person, but I ordered another drink and the waiter brought me this Hot Applecider drink with rum in it I believe I don't even know at this point I was already 75% in and dedicated to clearing my plate .... so guess what.
(Long dramatic pause)
I BUSSED INTO THE PASTILITOS. (STILL HOTT) now, I was ready for this. I knew they were going to be just as good as the sides if not better but what I really loved about them were, They were filled and FAT. You completely get your money's worth with them and they are Filling. 1 was enough for me but I ended up eating 4 In total. 9/10
This was an experience I completely enjoyed, I had a terrible day. And I know this was a long post but this spot will be receiving so much money from me in the future they git it DOWN PACK when it comes down to Great VEGAN options and Awesome Friendly...
Read moreI had been here in the past for drinks and wings and pastellitos all of which which were very good. However, on the recommendation of my son, we went for brunch this past Sunday. As I write this review, it is with a little trepidation purely for selfish reasons. I hope people find out about this place and frequent it and they continue to thrive and business booms; yet I am afraid people will find out about this place and business will boom and I will never again get a table. (See, selfish! Shame on me). Normally we order different things and share so we have a larger sampling. This particular day we had (4) carafes of mimosas, pastellitos to start then we both ordered the steak and eggs. Sweet Lord! The steak was cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth, and was seasoned with what seemed to simply be some fresh cracked peppercorn. The flavor of the meat was the star and it was fresh. The potatoes were slightly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and cooked with peppers and onions producing a great flavor. I ordered my eggs over easy. If you are of a certain age you remember your mom/grandma keeping a jar of bacon grease on or near the stove for cooking. The fried eggs had the slightly crispy and browned edges and flavor that you can only get if they are cooked the way your mama used to! Fabulous! As always, the staff is friendly and professional and courteous, the service is prompt and friendly and it seems the employees enjoy their jobs and work together well as a team. There were a couple of items on the menu I wanted to try so it looks like I will have to go back! My only reason for not giving that 5th star is I didn't like the psychic approaching us when we arrived and were just taking our seats. I know you're there, if I am interested I will...
Read moreuninspiring to border line horrible. 2:30 reservation, expected to order lunch, but they were still serving brunch. Based on summer menu, we expected vegetarian/vegan options. I think there was one.
It took forever to get anyone to our table. I ordered coffee because it was brunch. What I got was tepid and bitter. Given just two sugar packets and two creamers, not sure why they couldn't have at least put forth an image of being even a little generous. The coffee tasted stale.
On the regular menu, there is an upcharge for dishes that have a meat/protein item. Since there were hardly any vegetarian items to order, my guest asked for her Huevos Rancheros with out the chorizo. We were charged full price even without the sausage.
When we did get our beverage, the server apologized because he'd had too many drinks to make. Having a server/bartender doesn't portend well for good service if you want to be a food-serving establishment. It took quite a while for him to come back and get our order.
It took a long time for our food to be up. What could be faster to cook than eggs and breakfast potatoes? We almost just walked out, when our food appears. Things are in the wrong order when you get your food and the servers says "I'll be right back with silver ware,"
We had Eggs Benedict and Heuvo Ranchers (without meat). The food was acceptable, but not much more. We joked that we just should have gone up the street to Burger King.
I honestly feel we would have been happier if we'd chosen Burger King and then thrown $35 out of the car window on the way home.
Underwhelm food is one thing, but understaffed and slow service combined makes for a bad review. Which is disappointing since others had...
