Kelly's Korner seems to often find itself at the centre of "best wings in Buffalo" discussions- especially among the real wing connoisseurs who know to skip over Anchor and Duff's altogether (not that there's really anything wrong with either... but you can definitely do (much) better in town). So on one of my last visits to Buffalo (part of which was, no lie, dedicated to trying as many wing joints as possible), I couldn't miss out on this neighbourhood institution. This is the type of spot I love and crave so much- my own city (Toronto) tragically devoid of such authentic haunts anymore. Kelly's is a master class in "if it ain't broke"- I can picture everyone gathering to crush brews, watch the game, and devour wings, just the same today as they would've 30 years ago, and I absolutely adore that. The waitresses/bartenders were the very best embodiment of warmth and hospitality paired with character. I loved them. The wings are safely in my top three in all of Buffalo from what I've had so far. While they fall into the small-medium size category, the cook on them is flawless. One of the waitresses remarked the key is to their rest time- the longer you let them rest, the more they crisp up. Their classic medium hot sauce is perhaps the best I've had from all the must-try spots (Gabriel's Gate, Bar Bill, etc.). I do wish the wings were a touch larger in size, but certainly won't deduct a point for that- they are text book perfect otherwise. Will definitely be taking friends here on a wing tour. I was also told the beef on weck here was among the best in town, and of the four spots I've had the dish at (so far), this would safely fall in top place- perfectly tender and juicy, and well-seasoned. I'm drooling just thinking back to it. Can you tell I'm pretty in love with Kelly's? Can't wait to go back- next time would love to just kill a few hours there as opposed to my quick hour-long visit the first...
Read moreThe fish fry is the best in the city. The service on the other hand...terrible. My husband and I have walked out on several occasions after being "snubbed" by the bartender who works Friday afternoon/evening.
She is rude and makes a point to walk away or turn her back when you walk up to the bar. With the bar as busy as it is, we make a point to approach the bar to order our drinks to save her from leaving the bar.
I walked up to the bar, where I was not even acknowledged with an "I'll be right with you" or even a smile. I waited 3-4 minutes as she continued to serve and talk to other patrons and I suppose friends. I left where I was standing and went back to the table where my husband was seated. By now we have been there for 6 minutes and have not even been acknowledged.
My husband got up and walked over to her where she was talking with some patrons and she turned her back to him. This is the 3rd time this had happened with this bartender.
We refuse to spend money in establishments where we are not appreciated as returning guests. We have brought friends and sent friends here....no more.
I am referring to the blonde with tattoos, who is probably 50 trying to look 30. She is rude and ignorant and is throwing away repeat customers....
Read morewas recently racially profiled at this bar all because I am black and have braids. Nikki the bartender refused to serve me because she thought I was somebody else who was black and had braids that had cause problems there a few weeks prior. Not once did Nikki handle this in a professional manner. Afterl had told her numerous of times that was not me, she continued to accuse me of being the person who caused the commotion. I asked her to see the footage of the incident, she then lied and said the cameras only keep videos for a couple of days. She then proceeded to get on her phone and call a male to come to the bar to "handle me". It wasn't until I showed her my identification she then admitted I was not the person who was the problem. If she was professional and went about this the right way, and had asked for my identification from the start there wouldn't have been a problem. I was very hurt and felt very disrespected by this situation because my friends and family love going to this bar and can't believe that in 2024 people have racist tendencies. I will never spend another penny here and will spread the word for people not to spend their hard earned money...
