Went for Cinco de Mayo. The place was super busy and full of life but we were still seated within 5 minutes of stepping in the door. Started out with a passion fruit margarita, which was really good. Got the cheese dip and the guacamole as a started. They brought out my cheese dip with an oven mitt so I was expecting it to be hot. It was colder than the room temp chips. We sent it back and the manager brought us a new one and apologized. Second one was just as cold as the first. Guessing this is why it’s called “cheese dip” and not queso. Tostitos has a better cheese dip. The guacamole could pass off as store bought and they added a bit of pico de gallo on top but didn’t bother mixing it in. I ordered the birria burrito. It was soggy, dull and bland. I expected the tortilla to be soggy/ juicy as it was a birria burrito, but it didn’t even have a hint of birria flavor. Even the dipping broth was just bland. The meat was super chewy and the burrito overall was small. The menu also stated it would be topped with pickled onions and radish, it was not. I had more fries than burrito. Didn’t know french fries were authentic Mexican cuisine. Fries were also not cooked thoroughly or seasoned in any way. My boyfriend got the fried ice cream. It was a fried tortilla with ice cream on top. Kind of a misleading name. This place is so pretty and has so much potential. Food is just not there. Hopefully they can turn it around because this could be an...
Read moreI had a really disturbing experience here and feel obligated to share. Toward the end of the night, a hostess mistakenly brought our table a plate of calamari that we didn’t order. I let him know it wasn’t ours, and he told us we could keep it since they were about to close. Naturally, we ate it dipped in the sauce and everything. A bit later, the waitress (Julie) seemed confused and asked when we ordered it. I explained the hostess said to keep it. I overheard her telling the manager that the food was actually meant for the table behind us. Instead of discarding the food or remaking it, the manager knowingly instructed the waitress to take the already-eaten food and serve it to the other table after it had been at our table and touched, tasted, and eaten. Not only is that extremely unsanitary, it’s also completely unprofessional. As I was walking out, I told the manager the one who gave the go-ahead that I hope he never does something like that again. He dropped a glass, and I can only assume it was from guilt or nervousness. Either way, it was a clear indication that he knew it was wrong. Health and safety standards matter. I would never come back here after witnessing that kind of disregard for customer well-being. The waitress named was Julie. She was 100% aware of...
Read moreA friend of mine, asked me to post this for her, as she didn't want retaliation for the review. I am quoting what she told me. "Incredible first time going there to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was delicious, I decided to go back the next night with friends, because I had had such a great first experience. The second time was a complete 180. The server was rude, our card was asked to be held, this time, because we were ordering drinks, we were told. We were delivered food with hair in it. We showed the server, and he questioned US, as if we put it in there!! I feel that it racially motivated, completely unnecessary, and turned the night out to an extremely negative atmosphere, and ruined a good time out with company. I am Very particular about eating food that I don't cook. To be questioned about the hair, when it Clearly Was Not Mine, was insulting. We were not comped for anything, no apology, nothing. For one that likes to spend my hard earned money, and especially go to Elmwood village, with so many different people, cultures, good vibes, I will Never go back to that restaurant again, and am letting people know that racism and rudeness is Still prevelent, but can't believe it happened at Your restaurant. So...
