La Flor Bakery: A Taste of Grandma's Cooking from Puerto Rico in Buffalo, NY
Located in the heart of Buffalo, NY, La Flor Bakery is a culinary treasure that brings the comforting flavors of Puerto Rican grandmothers right to your plate. During my recent visit, I was transported back to my family's home in the center of the island by the incredible tastes and aromas that filled the bakery.
The star of the show at La Flor Bakery is undoubtedly their mouthwatering pernil asado, or roasted pork. The meat was tender, juicy, and bursting with a symphony of spices that reminded me of the traditional recipes passed down through generations. Paired with their fragrant arroz con habichuelas (rice and beans), every bite was a nostalgic journey to the dining table of my Puerto Rican relatives.
For those craving a hearty meal, La Flor Bakery also offers delicious bistec (steak) that is cooked to perfection. The flavors were bold and satisfying, making it a true delight for meat lovers looking for an authentic Puerto Rican dining experience.
No meal at La Flor Bakery would be complete without indulging in their heavenly desserts. The tres leches cake, a staple of Puerto Rican celebrations, was moist, creamy, and infused with just the right amount of sweetness. And let's not forget their irresistible quesitos, flaky pastries filled with creamy cheese that melted in my mouth with every bite.
Beyond the exceptional food, La Flor Bakery's ambiance exudes warmth and hospitality. The staff welcomed me with open arms, sharing stories and recommendations that made me feel like part of their extended family.
In essence, La Flor Bakery captures the essence of home-cooked Puerto Rican cuisine with its flavorful pernil, comforting arroz con habichuelas, bistec,& delectable tres leches, and irresistible quesitos. It's a culinary journey that transports you to the heart of Puerto Rico, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic taste of the island's culinary heritage right here in...

Read moreMy review is purely based on customer service and not the food! I’ve never ate here but the few times I’ve came to this business it’s been nothing short of disappointing in regards to the STAFF. My first time I went was years ago when my sister was dating someone who was part of this family owned business. The owner was there when we entered and all he could continue to comment on was how white I looked. I’m mixed race half p.r. And don’t speak Spanish fluently because of my upbringing but man talk about racist , the comments made me so uncomfortable I had to leave. Years later and the ONLY reason I came back was while I was doordashing I had orders here a few times and they definitely show favoritism , never acknowledged me , kept taking people who came in after me and the whole time the order I needed was ready and just sitting there. Instead of anyone helping me and just asking me what I needed they literally avoided me. Unless you fluently speak Spanish the workers seem to make anyone else feel less than. Not a place I hope to have to ever go back to and...
