High priced food without the justification. Food was disappointing. I was hopeful coming here for the first time. Great location and good atmosphere. However, the menu prices are not backed by the food taste. I don’t mind paying the higher prices for food as long as it is backed by quality and taste. This did not do it for me, especially in comparison to other Mexican restaurants in the area.
Salsa is okay, but the disappointment came when we tried to order a hot salsa, one is not available. For a Mexican Restuarant not to have a hot option is not good. The chips came out warm and were good. We then ordered the table side guacamole. This is where things began to fall apart. First thing, it took them like 20 minutes to come out to give this to us, claiming they ran out of ingredients to make it. Then they came out with Yellow avocados, which means they are not ripe and the taste of that is horrible. Furthermore, we had to tell the maker he needed to add salt to it, and he says this is only the second time making it and he forgot to bring the salt out with him. We ordered the Off The Rails Fajitas ($30). At this price much is expected but again it failed to meet the mark. Great quality meat, however there was absolutely no flavor, which was the common theme for our entire meal, except for the rice. The rice was very good. The beans were luke warm like they had been siting.
The straw that broke the camels back for us. Our meal took about 30 minutes to get to us after ordering. I am a vegetarian. I ordered the Chile Relleno, all cheese. It came out chicken. Good thing I checked before taking a bite. That’s just unacceptable.
Not a bad place, but compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, the food it just not up to par with the prices. We will eventually try this place again to see if anything changes, maybe it’s just new business issues, but we will give it 6-9 months to try to...
Read moreIt’s a very pretty restaurant but it has no Mexican feel to it. We got there at 6:30 and didn’t leave until 9:30. Everything took a very long time to come. I ordered a beer and it came out with no head on it which means either it was poured wrong or it was poured and sat for several minutes. And the food is really not great. No one really loved the food that much. If you like real Mexican food I don’t recommend it. The carnitas are the worst carnitas I’ve had in my life they were unseasoned and so dry it felt like grass. They’re my favorite thing and I used to travel for work. I’ve been to at least 50 Mexican restaurants across the south east and cook a-lot of Mexican food at home and that was the worst thing I’ve ever had. I told my waiter I literally could not eat it and he tried to convince me that those are grilled carnitas and I was the one who was confused. Carnitas are not grilled I have never seen them grilled. The menu literally says pork cooked in its own juices which is what carnitas are. Even if they were grilled that does not excuse them being so dry it’s not edible the grill does not dry meat out like that if the cook has half an idea of what they are doing. They did give me a piece of their “puerco Mexicano” which was their actual carnitas and they were ok. I’m pretty sure the grilled ones must have been carnitas they didn’t sell the day before and slapped on the grill. Also it was very expensive for a gringo Mexican place. The salsas were also not very good I’ve had better from a jar. The queso was nothing special it was thin and wasn’t as good as an authentic Mexican place. You’re better off going to any other Mexican place in Buford. Other than the food our waiter was good and friendly and the actual building is very nice but that’s not a reason to go to a restaurant. There was also a...
Read moreWe went the first week it opened and it was fantastic but today (12/22 around 1:30 PM) it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in awhile. PSA - avoid this place if they're serving large parties.
We sat patiently for 20 minutes or more with no server while my kids fidgeted. The chip/dip guy dropped off chips but no server stopped, and they wouldn't even make eye contact. Eventually I went to the cash register area in the back and said hey we don't have a server. She said, "oh you're at table 11?" - like she already knew we were there. She offered to inquire for us. Wow thanks for the hospitality.
A few more minutes passed and I flagged down someone friendly who was apparently the host, not the server. She did her best to take our order. The server finally showed up and seemed pleasant but obviously had animosity for the host who took our order. I know this because the server lectured me on the perils of asking a host to take my order - "when you see several large parties, don't ask the host to take your order" to paraphrase, but mostly verbatim. This was confusing because multiple other parties our size came in after us and were already eating before we had our drink orders sorted out, so why mention the large parties at all?
After the confusion, the manager stopped by to say he was was new. Seems like the servers are out of sync with the rest of the host staff and they went out of their way to avoid serving us at table #11. I was so excited to take my kids here but now I probably won't be back for a long...
