Kitchen continuously messed orders up while we were there. Chicken on the salad was severely oversalted and inedible. The fried chicken and fries were barely lukewarm in spite of waiting over ten minutes for the food.
The manager was terrible. As stated, the kitchen kept messing orders up, thus getting them returned. All she was doing is putting bandages on the problem instead of getting the kitchen back on track and putting an end to the constant mistakes. Six orders (not counting ours) were returned with a major mistake, Four of which occurred as we waited to order. We were near the back while we were eating, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear far more were missing. The manager did nothing to put an end to the problems. She needs to be fired. If you hire a manager, make sure that they manage their people. If there's a problem, fix it. If they refuse to comply, fire them at the end of their shift. There's boatloads of people running around trying to find whatever work they can, surely this lot isn't the best bunch of the lot.
One person was running the registers and doing the job of three people. God bless her, for she is probably not getting paid the amount she should be getting because she was running a section solo in which two people are required for to run effectively. s getting the wrath for the kitchen's mistakes. She did accidentally make my chicken finger plate a large, but things like that happen. The manager had to come out of the kitchen to take care of it. It took about ten minutes, leaving three people in the back. Orders kept coming in, and nothing came out. Why? One person is back there putting together orders by himself and two people have to stay on the cook tops to keep up with food demands. Otherwise, everything comes to a halt.
The restaurant was also understaffed. Two people were running grill, two (including the manager) were prepping food, two were on the drive through window, and one was running the front counter in the middle of lunch rush hour. This caused a severe slow down in service and a lot of mistakes. You need at least 6 in the back + 2 running the front counter EXCLUSIVELY to keep up with demand in a timely manner during peak hours. If the slowdown was caused by people walking out, I can see why after watching management deal with the problems. Fire the manager and hire competent people. You won't have problems like this on a regular basis.
Until these issues are fixed, I have no intention of returning and strongly exhort others to avoid this Zaxby's. If the manager(s) or owner(s) read this, they need to understand that if this isn't fixed, they're going to have MAJOR personnel problems as time goes on. Either they will remain understaffed (thus continue having the problems mentioned above), or they will find the good nuggets in the lot but will lose them to this type of chaos. Either way, the business is going to get burned unless...
Read moreThe chicken could be alot better. The recipe lacks flavor and texture. I would guess that they drop chicken tenders by the hundreds, and that they sit while they wait for you to order them. I am a fan of more places following their business model, of having fewer items on a menu, so that there can be more broom . I am tired of places trying to cram 50 items on their menu, but nothing stands out. Do 5 items, and do them well. This place has that smaller menu, but the food is still rushed. We order a big package for the whole family one time. Someone should have put on gloves, dropped all of our chicken fresh, and them put it in boxes made special to keep the chicken out of its draining grease, and that allowed air flow over the chicken, so the steam could escape, and the air could force the chicken to get crispy. Instead, I got home after a 3 minute drive from the restaurant, and the chicken was really dark, as if the fryer had not been filtered(the oil didn't taste burnt, to their credit), it was slightly soggy, because it heat been pulled into a box, while hot, with no ventilation, and the flavor was just off.
Here is the bottom line. After spending quite a few years in the industry, I can tell you how to fix it. First, log your hourly sales throughout the year, and set parts for how much chicken you aim for at any given time. How one person on the line that really knows what they ate doing, and hand them watch the business, the par numbers, and keep dropping fresh chicken. If you have to have 2 or 3 cards pull to the side for 2 minutes, let them know that you did that because you wanted them to have fresh chicken. They will appreciate that. Also, spend a little money on boxes that allow the chicken to breath. Make them biodegradable and made from recycled material, and let everyone know that. Tell them you do it so that they van have a better product. Charge a small container fee to help offset the price. They will appreciate the effort for better chicken.
The concept is on point. The exciting is lacking. I would continue to eat here, but I would bet them to make a few changes in how they...
Read moreI eat here often. The food is good. Today I was not to happy with what happened. The reps at the ordering area and at the window were good. I order an additional Zax sauce as one already comes with the order and I was charged for the second sauce. I was not mad but I felt like I had to call and tell to make sure to puts the sauces in the orders as I should have gotten two and only got one. I called this evening and got a girl on the phone. I asked if I could speak to a manager and her response was, “how can I help you?”. I then asked her if she was the manager and she repeated, “How can I help you?”. She never identified herself or let me know who she was. I asked again to speak with the manager and she repeated herself again…. At this point her rudeness got me mad. I said, “Wow, not only do you guys forget to our sauces in the Bach you’re extremely rude!” She then asked how she was rude and I told her that she is not identifying her self as the manager. The. She states that she just got in and is the manager. I advised her of how rude she was and asked for her first name and she refused. Asked me what I needed it for. Then I asked for her managers name and she gave me Jacob. Then I asked her if she was the manager why couldn’t she supply her name and she reduced to again. I asked that she give me her bosses email and she said she did not know it. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I told her that she sucked as a manager. I really hope Jacob sees this (if that even is her bosses name) and responds or something. Again, I wasn’t even mad… but her rudeness got to me. She is horrible...
