Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria
We haven't visited BMPP in Burbank in over a decade! We had moved out of the area and were forced to change our diets so we decided to introduce pizza back into our lives to see if I was going to have an allergic reaction. I never ate their pizza because I am allergic to tomatoes so I always ordered their wings. Back in the day, we would usually meet up with our friends and have the usual, drunk, late night munchies meetups here. We ended up moving out of the area and moved back so we decided to pay them a visit.
The location is great as it's on the corner of Alameda and Glen Oaks. They also have plenty of parking. The restaurant is bigger than I remembered and it has a full bar. I remembered they served beer back in the day but never knew they had a bar! This place is great to watch sports, too as the bar area have several big screen TVs. They also still have their infamous tabletop pizza! It's a pizza as big as a four top table! You can do a pizza challenge with it or it can serve a dozen people, I would imagine so this restaurant is great for large gatherings!
The staff has always been wonderful. They're always welcoming and friendly. Today we called for a take away order and the person on the other end of the phone was pleasant and you can tell they were smiling and love what they do. They weren't rude and aggressive like other restaurants we've placed orders with in the past.
They also have other great appetizers like Jalapeno Poppers, Curly Fries, Buffalo Wings and Meatballs. They also have Gandolas and Calzones here, too! If you prefer the lighter side, they also have huge salads!
We played it safe and ordered the Chicken Wings (naked) and a 13 inch, thin crust Hawaiian pizza. Surprisingly, I had no allergic reactions to their pizza sauce! The pizza was delicious. Their dough was nice and light and was also East Coast style. One slice is bigger than your head, if you decide to just buy a slice! They don't go overboard with the toppings and everything was PERFECT! I love their thin crust pizza!
The Buffalo Wings were great, too. Cooked to a golden brown, not greasy, light and crispy. They didn't have breading on them. They also have different sauces for their wings. Since I'm allergic to all kinds of spices and stuff, we got them naked. The size of their wings are large. They weren't tiny little chicken wings. I love the flats and my husband loves the drumettes so it was nice their wings were meaty. The wings also come with celery and carrot sticks, too. We think they make their dressings homemade because their dressings are always tasty. Even their Caesar dressing. You can tell their dressings are not from a bottle. Their Bleu Cheese, Ranch and Caesar dressings are so good that you want to dip everything in them! Since we also had a Caesar Salad, we had some of their delicious Garlic Bread, too. It makes me wonder if they make their own bread, too.
We will definitely be back because they have great Family Meal deals and I'm not allergic to their tomatoes and pizza sauce! I'm so happy to be able to add BMPP to our list for dinner nights! Now that there's a sports bar, maybe we can watch our hockey team and Dodger games here!

Read moreFrom the moment I walked through the door I knew this would be a pleasant experience. On the same lot I had already been through two negative encounters and one who had no desire whatsoever to allow me to do a review and posted on Google. These things too I will share in other Google reviews. But for now I would like to turn my attention back to Big Mamas and Papas pizza restaurant. I can't say that I was entirely ready for the magnitude of this establishment or it's multiple operations. The first section took me by surprise because it look like a nightclub. It was actually a sports bar, fully equipped with a stocked bar and table service. Everything was clean, shiny, and seem to run smoothly. Patrons were smiling and appeared to be having a good time. When I step through the next door I was greeted by young man named Dion, this area had a semicircle counter for taking and picking up orders. Directly behind it was a huge kitchen with pizza ovens just to the right. Cindy, one of the waitresses, gave me a welcoming smile. Then I noticed the restaurant section and dining tables. The walls tell a delightful story about the food that is prepared here and there are TVs mounted for your viewing pleasure. And last but not least there's an outdoor dining section that for sure would appeal to locals and tourists as well. Finally, the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. It's definitely a...
Read morePurchased a large 2 topping pizza. Came to $31 and change (very pricey for a 2 topping pizza, but what can ya do). Delivered pretty quickly. Pizza was delicious until I FOUND GLASS IN MY PIZZA SLICE!!! Called and informed the person who answered the phone (I assume was the manager as I didn't speak to anyone else). I was asked to send a picture of the glass (which I did) and was then informed that there was no way possible that he could see how glass could end up in my pizza. He made it seem like I was scamming them for something free (of which I never asked for anything for free). The "best they could do" was to remake the pizza. I had them do this and have it delivered again. The driver had a very standoffish attitude (borderline rude) and must have thought I was going to scream or yell at him due (which I did not do. Wasn't his fault). Over all the food was very good but the customer service is...
