No beer on draught, cash only and very rude owner/staff.
Bartender was very rude and pressuring us to leave instead of allowing us to wait inside until the taxi arrived. Other people were allowed to stay after 2am though, who were drinking, but not us or another two quiet people who were also waiting for their taxi.
We left a plastic bag that had beer in it because we were being rushed out. Once we realised that, we knocked on the door only to be told we will not get it back because it is illegal to bring beer to their bar. Was not aware of that, just figured as long as it is sealed, bagged, and not consumed on the premises it would be okay.
Called the bar today to inform the owner of my experience. A rude bartender answered and when I asked to speak to the owner, I was asked who I was, a "previous customer" wasn't enough for the call to be transferred, the reason being "concerning a recent experience" was not enough. I had to ask more than once to speak to the owner.
The owner said he doesn't get complaints and has been opened for many years, says the bartender has been working there for many years and asked if the rudeness was actually humour. Went on to say only locals/regulars get locked in after 2am and help clean up at some stage, so yes it was correct for us to be told to go urgently. He said rudeness at the end of the night is usual for bartenders in general. He said my beer is still there. When I asked if he could ask the bartender to be polite when I come for it because I don't want another unpleasant experience, he said he wouldn't do that because he can't confirm he was actually rude to me. Then he got rather snappy. He said I am dragging on the conversation, asked if I want him to whip and beat the bartender, asked if I want the bartender to be fired, said the bartender was rightfully rude to me if I am in any way like who I am on the phone...Though I was being civil.
I advise to avoid this bar. Go somewhere relaxed, with friendly customer service and an understanding owner who takes concerns of...
Read moreA stellar cash-only dive bar that seems to get it's own share of action. I was on a date and we came after hitting the Haunted Hayride about 7 min away. I'm pretty sure I was about to get hit on by two women but after grabbing my date's hand on the way out, I heard one say to the other "oh, he's on a date". Weird but oddly felt ordinary from a place like this. I remember overhearing a woman say "I love being married!" then leave the place with someone I'm sure wasn't her husband. They have a big liquor selection and a Wi-Fi type jukebox to play whatever you want. The blue booths stand out and the whole theme of the place reminds me of a ship anchored to a port, it's like you stepped into a Captain's ship. I like that they have a food truck outside so if you get hungry they allow you to bring food in while you drink. The bathroom was clean and out of paper towels but luckily I saw the bartender going into the stock room, so i told him and he thanked me and changed it right away. Good place to stop and...

We stopped by here to kill some time before we had to fly out. Great spot to chill inside where it's laid back and has AC. Restrooms were a bit of a tight space but it makes sense considering that this this dive bar is from the 1940s.
Plenty of spots to sit but the tables and chairs can also be a bit of a tight space as well. There's a jukebox for music and a TV you can watch sports on.
Drinks were fairly priced and strong enough to give a slight buzz before we headed out to the airport.
Bartender was very friendly and told my husband some history of the the bar. They have live music during the weeknights, which is pretty cool. Stevie Wonder had performed here last year and this bar has been used in a few movies too.
There is a parking lot in the back so two different entrances to get inside. It's worth checking out if you love dive bars. We'd...
