Just loved it here! Reminds me of being back home. I loved the atmosphere and the music, too. Even better was the customer service!!! Awesome place!! The food was delicous and comforting! I know where to go when I want a slice of home!
Miles was an awesome server. Always rocked a smile and did a great job with the recommendations. We started with the Fried Okra. I tried not to fill up on them because they were so good! The food came out pretty fast, too! The chicken was juicy and I love whatever they coated the chicken with! Super light, yet crispy and had the perfect amount of heat. The greens are delicious. Nothing better than some greens that tastes like my me-maw cooked. Tasted just the same. Even had bacon in it, too. The macaroni and cheese was cooked perfectly! I love the texture of al dente pasta and the amount of cheesiness was on point. The beans were very tasty and had just the right amount of sweetness just like their fresh brewed iced tea. I love the succulent pieces of fat in the beans-definitely a plus in my books. They serve your chicken with a slice of bread and it literally just brought me back home to Virginia when I got my plate and saw that piece was hiding under my chicken!!
So, I will NEVER purchase Sweet Potato Pie from anywhere else. The minute I took a bite, I was in heaven. The pie was bliss. This place nailed it. I'm going to buy a whole pie next time. This is not processed sweet potatoes or like canned pumpkin pie filling. They used real sweet potatoes. I know sweet potato pie is hard to find because we've been searching for a while. This pie and all their pies are homemade AND you can taste it. Holy moly. Don't buy a slice - bring home a pie. I can't wait to try the rest of their desserts. Heck, we're coming back to try the chicken tenders and coleslaw, too with a...
Read more"The absolute worst experience and rudest customer experience. No respect for the elderly and handicap. I'm sure the the Armenian male server messed with our food."
I went to this place with relatives who are older and not so keen on fashion due to age limitations.
As soon as we arrived, the Armenian male server started laughing at my relative whom is handicap and higher in weight.
I could see him snickering with others and it made me ferious. I decided to remain calm and continue with a peaceful afternoon.
the Armenian male server then was rude when taking or orders as he wasn't patient. He would wear the disdain on his face as if people could not see him.
He quickly saw I wasn't having it through facial expressions, but I remained civilized. He then begin to ignore our proper manners of expressions such as thank you's and so forth.
He was a little too excited when he asked how my meal inparticular. RED FLAG!!!! I'm sure he spit and dropped my food. It's ok, karma goes around.
Keep in mind he had to be prompted to finally come back to our table to service us. No water refills, nothing.
This server is bad for business and I will make sure to spread the word of how elderly and handicap people are treated and talked about in this...
Read moreI am always wary of places that have “World Famous” in the title. I always find them lackluster tourist traps.
This place was a huge exception.
Service is friendly and prompt, and even though the menus is simple, everything on it is top notch and feels homemade (probably because it is).
We started with an order of the fried green tomatoes and they were cooked fresh and crispy, and were tart and succulent.
Then came the entrees. Pro-tip (if you don’t know) dark meat is always juicier, so we got the dark meat platter.
This fried chicken...my goodness...this fried chicken nearly ascends you to Nirvana. It is easily the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It was fresh, hot, moist, crispy, and had a nice little spicy kick. I’m told the recipe originated in Memphis (according to our server). It is divine.
The sides are great, fresh, and filling. No need to order any size larger than the regular unless you’re sharing. The greens are fantastic, baked beans feel like you’re at a BBQ at a friends house, and the Mac n Cheese is a must.
Then, there’s dessert...we did the pecan pie with ice cream and holy hell...it is sublime.
Can’t wait to come again. Rest assured this place now has a place in my...
