I've been to Wax Poetic thrice now and have yet to be disappointed. My husband and I enjoyed it so much, it's where we decided to have our Halloween Anniversary dinner and drinks. I've thoroughly enjoyed everything about the experience:
The ambiance - art deco lighting fixtures complement the beautiful space, and the player piano sets a timeless, classy vibe.
The wine and beer selections - I've tried an array of whites, reds, and rosé, but so far my favorite was the Argyle Pinot Noir, and I love that they have wine on tap as well as bottles! They also have my favorite Hazy Little Thing on tap.
The food - OMG, the food. I came for the wine, so the fact that the food was great was an unexpected bonus. The marinated Mediterranean Olives are a top-notch pick. I got these the second time I visited, and I could (and probably will!) eat these every time. The beef carpaccio is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and my only issue with it is that I want to order it every time now, even though there are other delicious-sounding things on the menu I'm still looking forward to trying. A baguette with some melt-in-your-mouth La Tur is also a primo choice.
The service - the owners, Kerry and Eric, are so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The staff are attentive and super friendly. The chef even came out (every single visit!) to check in, see how the food is, and chat. I loved that! The bill comes w/ a 5% gratuity already included on the bill, and then it's up to you what tip you want to add...
Read moreI had the good fortune of visiting Wax Poetic wine bar recently, and wow was going there the right call. With its deep menu of bites and drinks, I was satisfied with everything that I was looking for and then some. Knowledgeable staff helped me find the right wine to match the taste I was craving, and I paired that with a toasty baguette that I spread thick with goat cheese and chili oil. And there's plenty that I'm looking forward to trying in the future -- baked brie, hard root beer, and all sorts of charcuterie options are on my personal radar. It's a spot that I'd take dry friends to as well, because the non-alcoholic options are plentiful and appealing. Decor is chic and sleek -- I especially enjoyed the lighting fixtures and the way that their light interacts with the space and materials. Also gotta mention: this place has a player piano that is trained in an impressive number of 80's classics. Careless Whisper was a huge hit! That's one of many little touches made by the owner-proprietors, a cool couple who made their way around the bar making everyone feel welcome. There's a whole lot that's going to be bringing me back to Wax Poetic, and I'm for sure going to be having my next Burbank pre-flight or...
