We called ahead a day in advance to place a take out order of 8lbs of meat for a holiday weekend gathering. When we arrived to pick up our order, we were told they were out of one meat so they gave us some variety meats to make up for it. This was good on them, but still a little frustrating as we had no prior notice and the meat we got instead was a little unsavory looking. We got back to our party and found that our sliced brisket was about 70% fat and 30% meat. I'm sure that there are some diehard fat-lovers out there, but you can count me out of that group. When you're buying meat by the pound, getting 70% fat is a terrible deal and truly disappointing. I had never eaten Jambo's before but we had all heard such good things, so I was truly upset to have such a bad first experience. Perhaps dining in might be different. Maybe someday I'll have a chance to try them again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so...

The restaurant was small from the outside, but once you walk into the door, there are actually two dining areas with lots of tables. It's a bit odd, as you have to walk through both dining areas until you get to a small window where you place your order. The girl who took my order was nice and patient, as it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to order. The guy fixing the orders was friendly and fast. I ordered 2 sliced brisket sandwiches, a side of baked beans, and a side of cowboy corn. My sandwich was good, not amazing, but good. The bbq sauce was okay, but not as thick as we prefer. My husband said the beans were okay, but he didn't care for the corn. Overall, it was a decent sandwich, full of brisket, and although the sauce had a decent flavor, it was a bit too watery. We may try them again when in the area, but order...
Read moreJambos has been my favorite Friday place for many years. The barbecue is excellent but I can’t stay away from the “only on Friday’s” pork chop. Another great choice is the Sadie. It is a potato filled with all the good things you love about barbecue. I hesitate to mention the salmon because it’s only available twice a year. If you get the opportunity to try the smoked salmon, get ready to go into food ecstasy. I’m grateful to have eaten in some truly wonderful restaurants in my life. These folks are a step above because they treat their customers like family. They call you by name, tease like a sibling and cook wonderful food. Recently, they went above and beyond for a family in our community. They already had my devotion but that act of kindness took it up a notch. If you haven’t tried them, do. Don’t wait too long. They close when the...
