Charlie's Cafe — Restaurant in Burley

Had lunch with friends here the other day. It was great! It's an old, maybe hesitant to say rundown building, but that adds to it's charm, I think. While you may fear an unhealthy dining experience, don't. The dishes were clean, and the food prepared apparently properly.

The prices are low, but the food quality was great. If you like biscuits and gravy, order them! It's bacon gravy, and I had not had that before. It was great. The gravy was light in texture. It was not paste like, nor lumpy, nor grease. The biscuits were high and fluffy. The full order is large, be hungry!

I didn't hear anything bad from my dining partners, and everyone finished their food. I assume the food they ordered was good as well.

Charlie's Cafe has breakfast/lunch hours so be early. However we were there on a Saturday at 12:30 pm and had the place pretty much to ourselves. The service isn't the fastest, but it was good. I will certainly pick Charlie's Cafe over Denny's or Perkins from now on,...

Not a local to this dinner, was having some automotive work down the street and was recommended this place for breakfast. Was welcomed right away and was told to sit anywhere I liked. Tables were clean and ready for me even though they were getting busy. Moments after settling in the Drink server handed me the menu and explained all menu items were available to order. I got the half order of bacon gravy and biscuits with eggs and strips of bacon to accompany my coffee that never got empty. I asked if I could linger a while as my van was in the shop, they had zero issues with that. After eating, taking some work calls I was ready to go. I went to Charlie's with seven other in-laws, relatives, etc. It was right at 1 o'clock on a Saturday, they close at 2 pm. We were seated and had our drink orders taken promptly and efficiently. We ordered, and our waitress handled several requests and order changes fantastically. My steak sandwich and tater tots were delicious. The steak was sliced thick and cubed. It was cooked medium rare and was tender and flavorful. The tots were hot and crispy. Since this is southern Idaho, I made sure to have plenty of fry sauce for my tots. The bill for eight people for a delicious lunch with generous portions was less than $150. My sandwich was too large and I had to take half of it with me. It got eaten at the hotel later.
