Lots of space available, but they put us back out of sight in a corner by the restrooms. K was our server. Seemed a pleasant girl. She brought our water, but we needed a few more minutes to figure out our order. And then we waited for 20 minutes for her to come back. Finally we saw her, back to us, visiting with a customer at the end of the aisle, and I would occasionally peer around the booth partition hoping to catch her eye if she turned our direction. After about 10 minutes, the lady she was talking with noticed and mentioned it, so finally she came over. "Sorry." Took our order. We also ordered a milkshake and smoothie.
And then we waited...and waited some more. Another 20 minutes goes by. While we waited a guest at one of the tables near us complained that they couldn't eat their meal because it was served stone cold. "Sorry," says K. They left, and their table and two other in our immediate vicinity sat there, covered in dirty dishes and food, remaining like that the whole time we were there.
Our food finally arrives via someone not K. By this time water glasses are empty. K hadn't checked for refill and I was eyeballing my meal and didn't think about asking. Bad decision on my part, because K isn't the type to check on her tables.
My husband's breakfasty order was OK. My meal? Not so much. The meat and veggies were edible, albeit dry meat and overcooked veg. I don't expect gourmet from Dennys, so that was OK. But the mashed potatoes were...wrong. I'm not sure what they were, but not potatoes. At first glance I thought maybe gravy? But no. Whatever they were, two bites made me feel sick. The bread was burnt.
K didn't come back to check on our water, and I was soooo thirsty. Our milkshake and smoothie hadn't arrived, but the guy who brought our plates said he'd let K know. Finally, when we were ready to leave, K shows up with them. "Sorry they are so late." I asked her to remove my plate, and to encourage the cook to revisit the potato situation. "Sorry," says K.
The shake and smoothie were good, thus 2 stars and not one.
Then we waited for the check, which never arrived, and since we were tucked away in the back corner we couldn't catch anyone's eye. Finally we got up and tracked down K. "Sorry," says she.
The good thing is the potatoes were removed from the bill and a discount was given for the meals. While we were waiting for all of that we heard K's voice from somewhere in the room.. "Sorry..."
I can understand short staffed or busy, but there were only a handful of tables in use, with servers standing around chatting(that's how we found K for our check)while tabletops sat with dirty dishes all over them and garbage underneath, food was being served cold or inedible, and customers weren't remotely taken care of.
"I'm sorry," but although we used to frequent Dennys in Burley, I, at least, won't be back. My husband will probably stop by for breakfast food, still, and hope for the best. He's...
Read moreDenny's always has good food and seems to be busy especially after dark and weekends. I have always enjoyed the food on prior occasions.
For some reason this night was short staffed. They only had the right section open. The left section was unoccupied. When my wife and I arrived, the right section was half full. Only one waitress was working tables. We were seated quickly. When the waitress handed us the menus. She asked if we wanted water. I said yes and asked for two lemonades so we could enjoy them at the same time. We also ordered food because we ate there enough that we knew what we wanted to eat. Twenty minutes later, the waitress was helping others who arrived after us. I stopped her when she walked by our table and asked about our drinks. She said she was sorry for forgetting the drinks and would bring them right out.
A second waitress showed up on the right section and was helping and serving tables. People filled the entire right section and waitresses were seating people in the left section. That section appeared to be getting full quickly. There was a waiting line in front of the front desk cashier, going all the way outside. People were waiting in line and turning around and leaving. Customers nearby were becoming clearly upset. I over heard one table say the order served to them was wrong and they still did not get the correct drinks they ordered. Another table nearby said their order was wrong too. My wife and I finally got drinks 30 minutes after sitting. We eventually got our food about 1 hour 5 minutes after ordering. The food was not hot.
I saw one group of people get up and wait to pay in front of the cashier (the first table mentioned earlier). After being ignored, cashier probably thinking they were waiting for a table like everyone else in line; after waiting quite awhile everyone just turned around and walked out without paying. There were about eight people in that group.
We finished eating and I asked the waitress for our bill. She said she would come back shortly, stating she had several bills to calculate. We waited ten minutes and finally went to the cashier without the bill. We told the cashier where we were seated and what we ate. The cashier said she had our bill on her computer and rang up the charge.
In conclusion; we were not impressed with the food or service. From what I saw, several other groups of people were not impressed with their food or service. In all I would guess about twenty five to forty people walked away. We are currently looking for another restaurant to do business with since we live in Burley. Really sad since this restaurant was our families go-to place for family get to gathers, birthdays,...
Read moreMy family has frequented this restaurant over the past 4 years. We have seen the quality of food and service erode the entire time. Tonight was the last straw. I took my kids in to eat since my wife was out of town. We were seated fairly quickly, however waited for quite sometime to be greeted by the server. The entire time i listened to what i assumed to be the manager yelling at a kid and telling him he had to stay past his shift time. Server finally came to the table took our drink order and food order since we had been sitting for quite sometime. We recieved drinks in a slow but orderly fashion. And were left to our conversation. I observed the manager continue to seat the same server "our server" 3 consecutive times after us. He was noticeably flustered. Food was brought out and looked good. My daughters eggs were overcooked, but no biggie. We proceeded to eat, and as i finished my eggs i looked over to see my oldest daughter about halfway through her tilapia which was raw in the middle. I told her to stop eating and motioned to the server to come over to the table. I asked for another plate and explained the reason why. He apologized and just stood there until i finally said, "Please take this away." He retreated to the kitchen and i could hear muttering about the situation. He promptly came back and apologized again and asked if i would like to speak to the manager. Hearing what i did earlier of this person's lack of tact and compassion toward her employees i declined and just asked that the food be re-made correctly. The minute the server left the Manager came to the table and apologized and then disappeared. As we waited for the re-make the same server and manager proceeded to have the same issue with the table behind us. It happened to be a local friend and i asked him what was wrong. He said his fish was also raw. Before the remade food was brought back to our tables the manager came by and addressed both tables together and said "I told the cashier to give you guys 10% off tonight." At this point i was done we asked for a box for my son's pancakes and the bill which was 50 dollars. ($5 dollars off ...hmmm thanks) and we paid and left. Not sure if I'll be returning again, and i will definitely not be recommending this...
